Huron Country Playhouse can't think of a
better way to celebrate than with a special
Spring Celebration to be held. at the
Oakwood Inn on May 2 in Grand Bend.
This dinner dance will begin at 7 p.m.
with dinner commencing at 8 p.m. Johnny
Bond and friends are providing special
musical entertainment after dinner featur-
ing vocalist Denise Pettey and John
Noubarian on keyboard.
Tickets are $50 per person - $25 of which
will be tax deductible. This is a fund rais-
ing project with proceeds going towards
the 1987 operating budget. For tickets, call

The auditorium of the Clinton Town Hall was sold out on April 4 when the Junior Jug
Band was on hand to perform a concert for local children. Ken Whitely (left) and his
brother Chris were two of the performers. The rest of the band was made up of Chris'
children Danny and Jenny. The event was sponsored by Beta Sigma Phi and all proceeds

Stratford Festival announces 1987 plays
STRATFORD - A dynamic acting troupe, Darcy Gordon returns for his second
including Artistic Director John Neville, Festival season. Last year, he appeared in

Richard Curnock returned to the Festival
last year after a four-year absence. In 1986
he played Campeius in Henry VIII and
Polonius in both Hamlet and Rosencrantz
and Guildenstern Are Dead.
Sheila McCarthy makes her Festival
debut this seaaon. An extremely versatile
film and stage actress, her more recent
stage appearance include Ophelia in Hamlet
(Toronto Free Theatre), Joyce in And a
Nightingale Sang (Theatre Plus) and
Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors (Crest
Theatre).
Stephen Russell returns for his 13th
Festival season. In 1986, he played Polix-
enes in The Winter's Tale, Thaliard in
Pericles and Belarius in Cymbeline.
Scott Wentworth returns for his third
Festival season. Ipp 1986, he played Laertes
in Hamlet, Gardiner in Henry VIII and
Roper in A Man For All Seasons. In 1985, he
played Tom in The Glass Menagerie.
Also appearing in Caberet are Wendy Ab-
bott, Donald Adams, David Brown, Eric
Coates, Faye Cohen, Tandy Cronyn, Hazel
Desbarats, Maurice Godin, Maurice Good,
Darcy Gordon,'Jennifer Higgin, John Innes,
Lee MacDougall, Larry Mannell, Eric Mc-
Cormack, Dale Mieske, Jeffrey Prentice,
Tanya Rich, Anna Louise Richardson,
Bradley C. Rudy, Keith Thomas and Anne
Wright.

The third Festival Theatre production
( opening June 5) is Richard Brinsley
Sheridan's timeless comedy of manners.
The School For Scandal. It will be directed
by Robin Phillips with set design by Michael
Eagan, costume design by Ann Curtis and
lighting design by Michael J. Whitfield.
The strong cast features Douglas Camp-
bell as Sir Oliver; Richard Curnock as Crab-
tree, Keith Dinicol as Benjamin Backbite,
Colm Feore as Joseph Surface, William
Hutt as Sir Peter Teazle, John Innes as
Moses, Sheila McCarthy as Lady Teazle,
Anna Louise Richardson as Maria, Wenna
Shaw as Lady Sneerwell, Keith Thomas as
Careless, Scott Wentworth as Charles Sur-
face and Susan Wright as Mrs. Candour.
Douglas Campbell, a member of the in-
augural 1953 Festival Acting Company, has
been involved in more than 30 Festival pro-
ductions, both as an actor and a director.
Last season, he directed The Boys From
Syracuse and played the Common Man in A
Man For All Seasons.
Keith Dinicol returns for his seventh
Festival season. Last year, he played
Guildenstern in Rosencrantz and
Buildenstern Are Dead, Rosencrantz in
Hamlet and the Lord Chancellor and
Surveyor in Henry VIII.
Colm Feore also returns for his seventh
consecutive Festival season. Last season,
he played I,eontes in The Winter's Tale, An-
tipholus of Ephesus in The Boys From
Syracuse and Iachimo in Cymbeline.
One of Canada's most acclaimed actors
and a member of the inaugural 1953 Festival
Acting Company, William Hutt returns after
a triumphant 1986 season during which he
played Cardinal Wolsey in Henry Vlll and
Sir Thomas More in A Man For All Seasons.
John Innes returned after a successful
1986 Festival season during which he played
Helicanus in Pericles, The Doctor in
Cymbeline and a Sicilian Lord in The
Winter's Tale. playing Sally Bowles later in the run.
Anna Louise Richardson appears in her Hazel Desbarats returns for her second
first Festival season. Last year she was Festival season. In 1986, she played Pa -
seen in Love For Love and The Heiress and tience in Henry Vilfl, Woman in A Man For
most recently, The Playboy of the Western All Seasons and Lady -in -Waiting in Hamlet.
World, all for CentreStage. Lorne Kennedy returns to the Festival
after his 1986 season during which he played
Horatio in both Hamlet and Rosencrantz
and Guildenstern Are Dead and Surrey in
Henry VIII.
Richard Monette, a veteran of numerous
Festival seasons, returns after a two -season
absence. His past festival credits include ti-
tle roles in Henry V and Hamlet.
Others in the Much Ado About Nothing
cast are Wendy Abbott, Donald Adams,
John Bourgeois, Maurice Good, Ron
Hastings, Nolan Jennings, Lee MacDougall,
Larry Mannell, Eric McCormack, Bradley
C. Rudy and Anne Wright.
Wenna Shaw joins the Festival for her
first season. Her more recent roles include
Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named
Desire (Neptune Theatre, Halifax) and
Eleanor in Passion (Grand Theatre,
London).

Festival season. In 1986, he played Dromio
of Ephesus in The Boys From Syracuse,
Florizel in The Winter's Tale and Guiderius
in Cymbeline.
Others in the cast are Donald Adams,
Faye Cohen, Maurice Godin, Maurice
Godin, Lee MacDougall and Dale Mieske.
Fourth production in the Festival Theatre
(opening July 31) is Othello directed by Ar-
tistic Director John Neville with design by
Astrid Janson and lighting design by
Michael J. Whitfield.
The stellar cast includes Douglas Camp-
bell as Brabantio, Colm Feore as Iago, Kim
Horsman as Bianca, Howard Rollins as
Othello, Goldie Semple as Emilia, Wenna
Shaw as Desdemona ,.and Scott Wentworth
as Roderigo.
Howard Rollins comes to Stratford after a
lengthy and triumphant run -in London's
West End, co-starring with Paul Scofield in
I'm Not Rappaport. His movie credits in-
clude Coalhouse Walker in Ragtime I which
earned him an Academy Award nomination
as Best Supporting Actor) and the lead role
in A Soldier's Story (directed by Norman
Jewison).
Goldie Semple returns to the Festival
after her highly successful 1986 Festival
season during which she played The
Courtesan in The Boys From Syracuse, Her-
mione in The Winter's Tale and Thaisa in
Pericles.
Others in Othello include David Brown,
Faye -Cohen, Keith Dinicol, Maurice.Godin,
Max Helpmann, Jennifer Higgin, John In-
nes, Dale Mieske, Jeffrey Prentice and
Tanya Rich.

Bobchinsky in The Government Inspector
and Feste in Twelfth Night.
Daniel Buccos returns to the Festival
after the "186 season during which he played

Han- and the Ambassador and a Soldier
in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.
Tandy Cronyn makes her Stratford debut
this season. An accomplished actress with
extensive credits in leading American
regional theatres, she also appeared in the
Broadway premiere production of Cabaret,
