WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1. 1987 Clinton Arts Committee prepares for second entertainment series CLINTON - April 4 marks the conclusion of the Clinton Arts Committee's First An- nual Entertainment Series. But for those who took in the performances and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, don't worry, plans for another series are well 'underway. The Second Annual Entertainment series will feature four performances instead of the three subscribers were previously offered. The first of these will be held the end of June when the Clinton Community Players once again take to the stage. Last year's performance of Lover's Leap will be follow- ed with a Neil Simon play. Although the ac- tual play has not yet been chosen, the arts committee is leaning towards a comedy. The remaining three performances will feature professionals with the first one tak- ing place on November 21 at 8 p.m. On this date, the Vancouver Wind Trio, "a group unique among Chamber Ensembles," will be featured at the town hall auditorium. This act will be followed by a group from the other side of Canada. On January 29, 1988, Jest In Time Theatre from Halifax will entertain. Jest In Time Theatre consists of five members who provide "an original style of physical theatre and weaves together mime, voice, acting and movement." The final performance will be put on by Kenneth "Rink Rat" Brown on March 26, 1988. The One Man Comedy tries to show the audience that there is "Life After Hockey". Promotional material for this act says, "Wayne Gretzky came to see the play and liked it so much that he now is heard in it reading the role of 'Number 99,' the God -like voice who advises and inspires Rink Rat." The arts committee is confident that their second series will go over well and is looking Beta Sigma Phi, Zeta Omega ... presents Spregytiote Fashions For All Ages •My Fair Lady •No Kidding •Campbell's Men's Wear TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 1987 at 8:00 p.m. Goderich Township Community Centre Commentator: Kathy Wallis Proceeds to Clinton Public Hospital & Community Protects. It's a different calibre of entertainment than the previous series," said committee menftbers Judy Stuart and Steve Campbell. "It's amazing to see groups from Vancouver and Halifax right here in Clinton." +,-• Those who bought tickets last year will get the first opportunity to buy tickets to the new series at the Ken Whiteley Music Show on April 4. For those who are not attending the Saturday performance, tickets can be obtained on April 6 at the town hall or from an arts committee member. Tickets will be $25 for the four perfor- mances but the number available is limited to 250. Children's Series Offered For the first time, the Clinton Arts Com- mittee is offering a children's entertain- ment series. The first of three performances will be April And Susan, a "dynamic and exciting blend of original songs, poetry and threatre with lots of audience participation." Many may be familiar with the group as they presently have two albums on the market. As well, Susan performs on the television show, Mr. Dress Up. This performance will take place on Oc- tober 3 at 3 p.m. Act number two is the Toy Town Troupers who will take to the stage on December 5 at3 p.m. This event, co-sponsored by the Clinton Business Improvement Area, will also be highlighted by the appearance of Santa Claus. The Toy Town Troupers will perform The Second First Christmas which tells the story of a person who went up in a rocket in 1987, returned in 2087 to a land that had never heard of Christmas. The final performance will be on January 30 at 2 p.m. and will feature Jest In Time Theatre. Tickets for these performances will not go on sale until the beginning of June, however,. prices have been set at $8 for a single and $20 for an entire family. The arts committee is pleased to be able to "expose children to cultural events out- side of school. " However, without the financial support of the Ontario Arts Council, they would not be able to provide this type of entertainment in town.
