Sorority brings children's concert to
CLINTON - A children's concert will be
performed at the town hall here on April 4 at
3 p.m. This entertainment is being spon-
sored by the local sorority. The performers
are Chris and Ken Whitely and Chris
Whitely's two children, who entertain their
audience with folk, jazz and contemporary
music, tell stories and demonstrate their
master of over 20 musical instruments.
To quote the Winnipeg Free Press from
May 30, 1985: "What is striking about the
Whitely's is their skill and imagination
Their musicianship is superb. They are at
home with all kinds of traditional and con-
temporary music.
Whether Ken is recounting the sensational
story of the giant Abay-yo-yo or Chris is us-
ing his harmonica to create all the sound ef-
fects of a story of a fox and a steam
locomotive, the ,images explode into excite-
ment in the minds of the youthful audience.
Audience members follow the stories and
soak up the musical instruction with rapt at-
tention, aid they throw themselves with
unselfconscious abandon into the par-
ticipatory games and songs."
When they are not performing Children's
concerts, Chris Whitely writes and plays
country music, while his brother works as a
touring musician with children's artist Raf-
fi. produced records and leads his own band,
The Paradise Review.
The cost for this concert is $3 and tickets
are available through the town hall or any
sorority member. The proceeds will be
donated to the Clinton Hospital Building
Fund.
Later the same day, the Whitely brothers
;ire performing for an adult audience as the

youngest in the family.
All students of Grade 3-8, including staff,
have' enjoyed and learned much from the
teaching of one of the parent members,
Peter Van Driel. He came into each
classroom and taught perspective drawing.
His instructions have really helped
everyone become more confident in the
drawing of buildings and other objects that
require the element of perspective. Thank
you, Mr. Van Driel.
As we count down to the March break, the
school is looking forward to their Annual
