DOWN AND OUT
Grant Elliott was determined not to let this opposing player on base, and in a knock out
battle he took her out in Sno-Pitch action in Blyth on Saturday. Despite Grant's attempts
for his Blyth Hotel team, the opposing team, the Blyth Rebel Women's Broomball team
went on to win the wintery baseball match by a score of 1-0. The morning game was part

bantams battle Burford in playoffs
On February 28 the BanJtams travelled to
Burford to begin a 3 out of 5 playoff series.
At the end of the first period, Burford led 2
- 0 as Clinton was very flat.
Burford scored early in the second period
to go up by three. Clinton than went to work
scoring six straight goals.
Norris Flynn from Curtis McCone nine
Steven Vandendool opened the scoring for
Clinton. Devon Colquhoun then scored an
unassisted goal. Scott Brown, assisted, by
McCone, and Derek Jefferson assisted by
Colquhoun put the locals up 4 - 3 at the end of
the second period.
Clinton continued their scoring assault in
the third period on a goal by "Squeak"
Ladd, assisted by Jefferson, followed by
Steve Vandendool's goal and Flynn's assist.
Burford then scored two of their own to br-
ing them within one goal. Clinton, however,
were able to hold them off and win the game
6 - 5. The series moved to Clinton the next
day.

March 1 saw a different game for the Clin-
ton Bantam's having home ice advantage
and a large turn -out of supporters.
The first period began in a flurry with
Derek Jefferson scoring at the 14:49 mark,
assisted by Ian Koetsier and Mike "Squeak"
Ladd. Devon Colquhoun then scored,
assisted by Jefferson on a power play. Nor-
ris Flynn than connected on assists from
Steve Vandendool and Koetsier, followed by
Ladd with assists to Vandendool and Mike
Corrie. The first period ended with Clinton
up by four.
Scott Brown scored first in the second
period from Ladd and Jefferson, then Curtis
McCone scored on as assist from Greg
Mayhew, to round out the scoring at 6 - 0, at

Dorothy Airdrie was the top bowler in all
three categories on February 24 with the
high single of 305, the high triple at 710 and
the high average of 202. Jane Lyon took the
runner-up position for the high single with
244 as well as for the high triple at 627 while
Susan Proctor was runner-up for high
average with 189. The hidden score was won
by Agnes Doherty and Carol Strickland at
165.
Those ladies that bowled games over 200
included: Dorothy Airdrie, 221; Kim Brake,
219; Debbie Cuthill, 202, 201; Jane Lyon, 210,
244; Colleen Maloney, 212; Gertie
Greidanus, 210; Susan Proctor, 233, 215;

Dorothy Airdrie had the only game over 300
with 305.

Kyrstie Pounder had both the high single
and the high double for the Bantam girls on
February 28 with scores of 208 and 335
respectively. Jennifer Burt had the high
average of 156.Dale Marsh was the top
bowler for the boys with the high single of
170, the high triple at 339 and the high
average of 160. There were three winners
for the Pee Wee girls as Launa Renner had
the high single with 133, Michelle Shropshall
had the high double at 219 and Michele Tyn-
dall had the high average of 87. For the boys
Mike Atkinson had the high single with 183
as well as the high double at 315 while
Stephen King had the high average of 110.

On March 2 Marion van Wyk had the high
single for the ladies with 245 while Ann de
Weerd had the high triple at 588 as well as
the high average of 185. Angus Hummel was
the top bowler for the men with the high
single of 256, the high triple at 676 and the
high average of 213.

Marketing boards will be topic
The Huron Federation Of Agriculture
monthly meeting will be on March 11 at 8:30
pm. The place is Central Huron Secondary
School's cafeteria. The topic will be
marketing board and/or free trades. This
will be group discussions.
The speakers are: member of OPPMB;
member of Ontario Wheat Producers,
member of Ontario Marketing Board, and a
representative from the Ontario Chicken
Producers Marketing Board.

Burford scored a power play goal in the
third period, to end the game at a 6 - 1 count
and Clin.on up two games to none in the
series.—
Clinton lost the flip, so the third garde is to
be played in Burford at 4 p.m. on March 7
and back to Clinton March 8 for a fourth
game. The fifth game (if required) will be
back in Burford.
Local badminton players busy
CLINTON - Local badminton players have
been busy over the past few months, taking
part in Walkerton, Hanover and Port Elgin
tournaments.
On December 6 Tracy MacDonald and
Julie Holmes placed first in ladies' doubles
play in Walkerton. In men's doubles Bob
Riehl and Chris Grande placed second.
During the Hanover tournament, played
in Walkerton on January 25, Bob Riehl plac-
ed first in men's single play, while Chris
Grande came in third. The two teamed up
for men's doubles play to take second place.
Tracy MacDonald and Nancy Brown came
second in ladies' doubles at this tournament.
In Port Elgin on February 22 Tracy Mac-
Donald and Nancy Brown again teamed up
to take first place in ladies' doubles. Julie
Holmes and Shelagh Sully came in second in
this category. Bob Riehl and *Chris Grande
were once again victorious at this tourna-
ment as they took first in men's doubles.
