to the CNIB
CLINTON - Margaret Robinson's third
year general English class at Central Huron
Secondary School (CHSS) took their studies
to heart and made a donation to a wor-
thwhile cause.
After reading the book, Butterflies Are
Free by Leonard Gershe, Mrs. Robinson
passed out a letter from the Canadian Na-
tional Institute for the Blind containing in-
formation on Talking Books which are used
by the blind.
The letter explained that for the 45,631
blind Canadians, "th printed word is simp-
ly inaccessible." The letter then went on to
say, "with a small gift from you, we can

turn the printed word into the audible word
of a Talking Book."
The price of a talking book is $15 and with
45 children in her class, Mrs. Robinson sug-
gested a target be set at $45 which would buy
three books. As well, Mrs. Robinson said she
.would match whatever the class raised.
Out of their own pockets, the class handed
in $45 which Mrs. Robinson did match.
To further connect the "fund raising pro-
ject" with the classes studies, Mrs. Robin-
son had each student write a letter and the
two best letters were combined into one and
sent with the $90 donation.
