The bride's calendar
Six to Twelve Months Before the
Wedding:
Discuss the wedding budget with your
parents and fiance, then determine the
type and site of the ceremony and also
the number of guests to be invited.
Choose a wedding date, then arrange
with your fiance to meet with the clergy
member or marriage commissioner who
will perform the ceremony. It's a good
idea to have a couple of dates in mind—
the church or chapel may be booked or
the clergy or commissioner unavailable
for„ your first choice of date and time.
Arrange for the organist and soloist or
other musicians at ceremony.
Make reception reservations: location,
caterer, band or disc jockey.
Book your photographer—and video
photographer if desired.
Start your guest list.
Choose your attendants.
Select your wedding gown and veil
(and shoes if they must be ordered and
dyed to match dress).
Register your patterns, colours, etc.
with the bridal registry at leading local
stores.
Order attendants' dresses.
Three Months Before the Wedding:
Complete guest list.
Order invitations and wedding
announcements.
Get any innoculations, vaccinations,
etc. needed for honeymoon trip. Renew
your passport, if necessary.
Order flowers.
Register for pre -marriage counselling
course.
Two Months Before the Wedding:
Order wedding cake.
Visit cosmetician for skin care and
makeup tips.
Address invitations and
announcements.
Mail invitations to arrive six weeks
before the wedding.
Arrange for wedding cars,
limousine ( s) or livery.
One Month Before the Wedding:
Have final dress fitting.
Buy groom's and attendants' gifts.
-Write thank -you notes as gifts are
received.
Visit hairdresserand decide upon an
appropriate hair style for your wedding
day.
Arrange accommodation for out-of-
town guests.
Plan rehearsal dinner (if you are giv-
ing it.)
Two Weeks Before the Wedding:
Start moving personal and household
items into new home.
Plan transportation to the church and
reception for attendants, parents and
yourself.
Send announcements to newspapers.
Have a 'wrap -the -cake party'. (Gather
together and turn a time-consuming job
into a fun evening.)
One Week Before the Wedding:
Have announcements ready to mail on
your wedding day (after the ceremony ).
Check on final details with the caterer,
florists, photographer, band, limousine
gompany, - etc.
Pick up wedding gown from store.
Attend rehearsal and rehearsal party.
The Wedding Day:
Have your hair 'combed out' at the
hairdresser's. Visit cosmetician to have
makeup applied.
Be ready an hour -and -a -half before the
wedding for picture taking.
Leave for church or ceremony site, ar-
riving about five minutes before the ser-
vice is to begin.
Then take a few deep breaths, relax
and enjoy yourself — after all, it is 'Your
Day'!
The groom's guide

One Month Before the Wedding:
Make reservations for overnight ac-
commodation for out-of-town relatives
and ushers.
Arrange with fiancee for your share of
the florist's bill.
Pick up the bride's wedding ring.
Two Weeks Before the Wedding:
_ Go with your financee to get the mar-
riage licence.
One Week Before the Wedding:
Have your hair trimmed.
Pick up wedding attire.
Advise your best man and ushers .
regarding the rehearsal and any special
seating arrangements.
Attend rehearsal and rehearsal party.
Give gifts to your best man and
ushers. (The rehearsal dinner is a good
time for this.)
Give the clergyman's honorarium (in
a sealed envelope) to the best man.
Financial Responsibilities
1 The marriage licence.
2 The bride's rings.
3 The gift for the bride.
4 Flowers: Bride's bouquet and going -
away corsage. Boutonnieres for the men
of the wedding party and fathers. Cor-
sages for the two mothers and the
grandmothers.
5 Gloves and ties for the men of the wed-
ding party, if needed.
6 Gifts for the best man and ushers.
7 Accommodations for the best man and
ushers, if from out-of-town.
8 Clergyman's honorarium.
9 The wedding trip.
