ing to make their favorite snack from the
story,
The Grade 1 pupils are studying the
groundhog. They watched to see if he saw
his shadow on February 2.

The Kindergarten Kids had fun at the
Robert Munsch party on January 30. They
are now doing a unit on snow.

On Friday the Grades K-2 had a Robert
Munsch party. The kids dressed up as their
favorite- characters. For treats they had
foods from the books Robert Munsch wrote.
They had chocolate covered bricks,
chocolate puddles, octopus, blackberry jam.
Grades 2 also wrote a letter to Robert
Munsch.
Last words of wisdom are that the Grades
3 - 6 students are scoping, but the sevens are
towering. Scope and tower is a process that
is used to write speeches and essays. They
are using it for speeches that will be tested
on the ninth and the 12th.

Looking at Inuits
Lately the Grades 3,4,5,6 pupils have been
doing an Unuit unit. They go to the Grade
3/4 room for Environmental Studies ac-
tivities. They are: clothes; globes; poems;
art; crossword; flora and fauna; old and
new and drama.

Grade 3/4 5/6 and 7 are going skiing,
skating, and snowshoeing with my teacher
Miss Beuerman and Miss Walsh for Valen-
tine's Day.
On January 29 Mr. Kemp and 'Mr.
Rowland came to our school and they told us
about Inuit with Grades 3/4 5/6 and 7. Mr.
Kemp and Mr. Rowland did a lot of nice
things. They told us how to speak Inuit.
Grades 3/4 5/6 and 7 did Centres.

The Grade 7 pupils wrote editorials for
non-smokers week. Everybody that wrote
an editorial on smoking was against it and
7112:111 to get other people to stop.

the Township of Tuckersmith will enter into
discussions with the Tuckersmith Municipal
Telephone System for the installation of a
digital switch and remote on part of lot 42,
plan 133 at Vanastra.
Council endorsed the report of the Huron
County Planning Department from their
review of the right to farm legislation.
Drug abuse to fie focus of ! talk

VANASTRA - The Grade 7 class of the
Vanastra Public School will travel to Cen-
tral Huron Secondary School on Friday mor-
ning to watch a performance by the High
School Band.
A reminder to the community, that Con-
stable Marshall of the Goderich O.P.P. will
be giving a talk on Drug Abuse. This will be
held Wednesday. February 4 in the
Vanastra school gym at 7:30 p.m. Everyone
in the community, including children, is
welcome to attend.
Vanastra Lioness
The Vanastra lioness have planned a bus
trip to l,ulu's in Kitchener for Saturday,
February 7 There are four seats left on the
bus, which will leave the Vanastra Recrea-
tion Centre at 4 pm. If anyone is interested
in these seats please call Lioness Linda at
482-9183.
The Lioness Club will be holding an Indoor
Flea Market again this year on March 21.

Vanastra Rec Centre
The 6th Annual Heart Fitness Swim will
he held at the Vanastra Recreation Centre
during the month of February. Applications

for this event are available at the Rec. Cen-
tre. The purpose of the Heart Fitness Swim
is to encourage everyone to "get in the
swim" for the Heart Stroke Foundation. It
provides the individual with the opportunity
to measure their fitness and compare it to
others of the same sex and five year age
group. Swimmers complete as many
lengths as they are able in half an hour.
Each swimmer must provide his/her own
lap counter/timer to ensure the swim is
done correctly. This is not a competition. A
certificate from the Heart and Stroke Foun-
dation plus a printed bathing cap from
Leader Sports Products will be sent to each
participant. There is an entry fee,according
to age, with a certain percentage going to
the Heart and Stroke Foundation. For more

tre at 482-3544.
Bingo Results
The winners of the share the wealth
games for last weeks bingo were Ilene

Clinton. Winner of the jackpot was Wilma

won the last week of January.

HENSALL - It was a busy week at
Queensway Nursing Home.
Monday residents began their week play-
ing bingo with the help of the auxiliary
women. They had a super hour of bingo, and
for that would like to thank the auxiliary for
their time and effort.
Tuesday morning it was time for morning
exercises, which residents look forward to.
In the afternoon Pastor Keupfer came in to

Little, Lori McLachlan, Jason Shipp, Jennifer Hodgins, Connie
White, Allison Burt, and Adam Rathwell. 1n the second row from

success, and residents thank Mable Shirray
for helping out. Also they send best wishes to
Ethel Alexander and Mary Parlmer, who
both celebrated their birthdays on January
17. Thursday evening all enjoyed Games
Hour and had a super time.
Residents ended their week with exercises
once again to get "limbered" up for the
weekend ahead.

took place Wednesday morning, then in the
afternoon While some went bowling, the rest
enjoyed being part of a discussion group
called, "The Sharing of Stories." Residents
