FEBRUARY 4, 1987 FeIIowshipc'ndfriendsh Clinton and area obituaries I4)rna Radford • A well known Clintonian, Mrs. Lorna Rad- ford, died at Clinton Public Hospital on January 26. She was 86. Mrs. Radford is remembered in the com- munity for the years she spend teaching piano lessons in her home and for her musical performances at different com- munity functions. She was also well known for her participation in the Clinton Women's Institute and as a member of Ontario Street Uni..ed Church. Mrs. Radford was born in Howick 'l'ownship on January 3, 1901. She was the daughter of Robert A. Ashton and Ida Jacques. On September 22, 1924 she wed William Ernest Radford in Gorrie. Following their marriage, the Radfords moved to Walton for 11 years and then in 1935 they moved to Wallace Township, near Palmerston where they farmed from 1935-1948, In 1948 they moved to Clinton where Mrs. Radford has resided since. Mrs. Radford is survived by her two sons, Maurice and his wife Marie of Elmira, New York and Frank and his wife Ruth of RR 2 Clinton. Also surviving are six grand- children and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Patricia ( Mrs. Geoff Grindrod) of Mississauga, one brother I,ealand Ashton of Toronto and two sisters-in-law, Helen ( Mrs. Sterton Ashton ) of Hamilton and Mabel I Mrs. Spenser Ashton I of Toronto. Mrs. Radford was predeceased by two sisters Margaret ( Mrs,,. William Strangway), Berle (Mrs. Ernest New), and 'two brothers Sterton and Spencer Ashton. Furielral and committal services were held on January 28 at the Ball and Falconer Funeral Home, Clinton. Rev. David Woodall of Ontario. Street United Church officiated. Burial was at the Clinton Cemetery ' Pallbearers included Mr . Radford's three grandsons, Gregg Rford, Mark Radford and Paul Radford, nd neighbors Ken Gibbings and Grant Irwin. Ivy Irene Scott Seaforth resident, Ivy Irene Scott died on February 2 at the Seaforth Community Hospital. She was 82. A daughter of the late Frank Plewes and Charlotte Carter, she is survived by one brother Harry Crich of Seaforth and two step brothers, Ray Gibbings of London and Harold Gibbings of Clinton. Also' surviving are several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Scott was predeceased by two husbands, Alton Johnston and Walter R. Scott. Funeral services , were held at the Whitney-Ribey Funeral home on February 4. Spring interment will take place at Baird's Cemetery, Stanley Township. Bruce Eldon McClinchey Bruce Eldon McClinchey of FIR 2 Goderich died at University Hospital on Tuesday, January 27 at the age of 71. He married the former Annie Grace Robinson, who survives. He farmed for 50 years in Stanley and Goderich Townships until retiring in 1980. He was a . member of Victoria Street United Church, a members of the Huron Pioneer Thresher and Hobby Association, and a past member of the Canadian Or-' namental Pheasant and Game • Bird Association. Surviving besides his wife, are two sons: Ronald and . his wife Ethel of RR 1 Wellesley and Raymond and his wife Jane of Goderich Township; two daughters, Jean and her husband Peter Imanse of Col- borne Township and Joanne of St. Jacobs; one brother, Frank and his wife Mabel Mc- Clinchey of Clinton; and eight grand- children, David, Cheryl and Sean McClin- chey, Danny and Andrea Imanse, and Ryan, Steven and Colleen McClinchey. He was predeceased by one brother, William McClinchey. A funeral and comrnittal service was held at the McCallum and Palla Funeral Home of Thursday, January 29 with Rev. John D.M. Wood of Victoria Street United Church officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Wilson, Bud Baird, Campbell McKinley, Elmer Hayter, Bill Consitt, Austin Fuller, Eric Speiran and Charles Reid. This colorful film proved to be both interesting and educational. The Help Us Grow group which usually meets Tuesday morning had to be cancelled last week due to illness. It is good to hear some of the ballads that were so popular a few years ago. and still being heard today. Roman Catholic Mass conducted 'by Reverend .John Pluto' took place Friday morning in the chapel. To round out the activities for the week, residents enjoyed a few games of bingo. Three mornings a week quite a number of ladies meet in the auditorium and under the direction of Cathy Dallas, perform their ex- ercises set to music. This is a popular pro- gram of relaxation and much fun. .lane Ladd is hack. After a long illness, Jane has returned to her job at Huronview and we all welcome her. Sunday morning worship was held iii the chapel conducted by Reverend D. Snihur. His inspiring messages for the past while have been on the theme "Exodus". During the service David sang a popular old favorite entitled "In The Garden". Assisting the minister in serving Communion were Gladys Stanlake, Annie Scott, Helen Westcott and Wilbert Godkin.
