Celebrations set for 1987
Dances and dinners, parties and special
events will be featured in 1987 as part of the
fund raising campaign for the Clinton
Public Hospital's new obstetrical wing and
`renovations to the chronic care area.
Special events committee chairman Dave
Hanley of Clinton and his group have been
working to prepare a varied program of
entertainment and fun.
This year's calendar of special events gets
underway on Saturday, February 14 with a
Valentine Dance. The dance will be held at
the Goderich Township Hall from 9 p.m. to 1
a.m. Musical entertainment will be provid-
ed by the band Day Break, and lunch will be
served. Tickets are $10.00 each and are
available from committee members, the
fund raising office or the hospital.
In cold, blustery March, the hospital
building committee plans to take you to a
warmer, tropical climate when Hawaiian
Night is held on Saturday, March 28. The
Clinton Legion will be the setting for this
evening of dancing and dining. The band
Anything Goes will be providing the music
for the evening. Tropical refreshments will
be served and special fare, shish-ka-bobs,
will be prepared by the Plrieridge Barbecue

On April 12, a Fiddler's Jamboree will be
held at the Stanley Township Hall. More
details on this toe tapping, musical event
will be outlined in the near future.
A gourmet dinner and 'evening of enter-
tainment is tentatively planned for Tues-
day, May 19 when a Celebrity Dinner is held
at the Goderich Township Community Cen-
tre. Ontario's Lieutenant Governor, Lincoln
Alexander and actress Shelley Peterson
have been invited to attend. Local
dignitaries will also be the special guests.
The evening will include a cocktail hour,
fine food, an opportunity to meet the special
guests and musical entertainment.
Final details for this special night are be-
ing completed at this time. More informa-
tion on the Celebrity Dinner will be announc-
ed in the near future.
Dave Hanley reports that his committee is
also working on other special event ac-
tivities for the year. As well, local service
clubs, various organizations and church
groups have been asked to .help with the
fund raising campaign by holding special
events throughout the year.
The Auxiliary of Clinton Public Hospital made two donations to the hospital late in
December. Joyce Chilton, president of the auxiliary, presented a cheque for $4,000 to the
treasurer of the hospital board Steve Fraser (left) to complete payments on the bathing
unit purchased last year. Mrs. Chilton also presented a cheque to fund raising chairman,
Don Symons, for $3,000 as a First payment on the latest commitment of $10,000 over two

CONSTRUCTION DATE NEARS
Fund raising campaign in full gear•
for OB and chronic care project

CLINTON - The year ahead promises to
be an .exciting one for the Clinton Public
Hospital (CPH) as plans take formation for
the construction of the new obstetrical wing
and renovation of the chronic care area.
Tenders will be called this month for the
$950,000 project and construction is ex-
pected to begin in early spring.
The proposed new addition will add ap-
proximately 5,000 square feet to the present
hospital. This will include a new obstetrical
facility comprising of a modern delivery
room and two labor/delivery rooms which
will allow expectant mothers to deliver their
babes, if they so wish, in a home -like at-
mosphere where their;. husbands and other
members of the family can be present if so
desired. In addition to this, four patient
rooms for medical and surgical patients will
be included in the new construction allowing
for the renovation of present facilities,
upgrading them to today's expected
standards.
The renovation program is scheduled to
include the upgrading of chronic care pa-
tient rooms in the vacated obstetrical ser-
vice allowing Clinton Public Hospital to of-
fer the quality of care chronic patients ex-
pect and deserve. Completion of the building

imately 18 months from the starting date of
construction. Some new furnishings and
equipment will be required to complete this
project.
Fund raising efforts for the project are
well underway. To date more than $266,000
has been raised. The campaign goal for the
the building project are also being donated
by the Ontario Ministry of Health with a
$400,000 grant, as well as a grant from
Huron County for $150,000.
The fund raising committee is confident
that the local canvass will be accomplished
by the year's end. Committee chairman Don

special fund raising projects, from hospital
and medical staff members, from national
foundations, from the Hospital Auxiliary,
and the hospital board members, service
clubs and local municipalities.
Along with the local campaign,, funds for
Symons noted, "I'm extremely pleased with
the fund raising campaign to date and I
have full confidence that the target goal of
$400,000 will he met if not exceeded".
The committee is welcoming all donations
and pledges. Donations should be sent to the
Clinton Public Hospital Fund Raising Com-
mittee offices at 69 Victoria Street (Dr. B.
Baker's former office). The office is open
from Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
As well, donations may be directly sent to
the Clinton Public Hospital, Shipley Street,
Clinton.
