Maid of honor was Karen Mathonia, sister of the bride and bridesmaids were Sandy Vanderview, sister-in-law of the groom, and Kim Hayes. Bestman was Dan Lapier and ushers were Dave Erb, brother of the bride and Leon VanHarren. Flower girls was Leeanne Erb, cousin of ,the bride, and riltg bearer was Justin Anjema, nephew of the groom. The couple are residing in Brigden. •(Harvey McDowell photo) New executive elected The 1986 Huron County Junior Farmers Executive is pleased to announce that the new 1987 Executive has been elected. These officers will take part in a candle service to symbolize the change of responsibility from the old executive to the new executive. This candle service will take place at the Annual Banquet in the Clinton Legion, on Saturday, January 17. The new Executive for the Huron County Junior Fanners is: -past president, Dianne Oldfield; - president, Robert Hunking; - first vice president, Linda Axtmann; - second vice president, Jeff Hearn; - secretary, Muriel Taylor; - treasurer, Andy Williams; - newsletter editor, Annette Losereit; - public relations officer, Linda Cunningham; - agriculture contact, Sharon Nivins; - assis- tant agriculture contact, Dave Vanneste; - provincial director, Janice Murray; - alter- nate provincial director, Ann Alton; - zone representative, Dianne Oldfield. The Annual Banquet and candle_service will be followed by a dance. Clinton and area obituaries Hendrica DeJong Hendrica DeJong, of Tuekersmith Township, died atClinton Public Hospitalon December 30. She was 87 years old. The former Hendrica Vollebregt was predeceased by her husband, Anthoneus De - Jong, She'is survived by four sons: George of Goderich; Gordon of RR1 Brucefield; Tony of RR3 Seaforth; William of RR1 Brucefield. Also surviving" are 16 grand- children and 18 great-grandchildren. Mrs. DeJong was predeceased by three sisters, three borthers and one grandson. The family received visitors at the Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth on January 3. A mass and burial were held at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Seaforth. Interment in St. James Cemetery. Pallbearers were Danny McGrath, Joe Postill, Henry Klaver, Pat DeJong, Jim De - Jong and Torn DeJong. Aaron Fisher Aaron Fisher of Clinton, and formerly of Colborne Township, died in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on December 31. He was Friends help celebrate birthday CLINTON - About 75 friends, neighbors and relatives held a birthday party for Karen Whitmore on January 3 at Wesley - Willis Church. Former, neighbors from the second con- cession of'Tuckersmith found out that Karen turned 30 on December 31 and decided to help her celebrate. As well, a cousin from Vancouver, B.C. joined them. Karen asked the children to help her blow out the candles on her cake and they eagerly assisted her• in opening numerous cards as gifts. -She plans on letting the children at the nursery school, where she works, enjoy the balloons Which helped mark the occasion. Exercises rejuvenate Queensway residents 76 years old. A long lune Colborne Township farmer, Mr. Fisher was born in the township. on April 26, 1910 to the late Aaron Cartvyright and Lettie J ne (Sprang) Fisher. On December 4, 19 6 he married Ruth Noble in Morris Towns . Following their Mar- riage, the coupl urehaseda farm in Col- borne Township here they farmed until moving to Cllnto in 1970. The couple celebrated .50 yea of marriage on December 4. Mr. Fisher was a member of Ontario„ Street United Church, Clinton, and a former member of the Benmiller United Church. He is survived by his wife, two sons, James and his wife Helen of RR9 Goderich, and Larry and his wife Anna Mae of RR2 Clinton; and seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Elwin (Beulah) Wilson of Ingersoll, Mrs. Joe (Marie) Corey of RR4 Clinton,. Several items were discussed as well as prepara- tions made for the new year. with help of exercises. In the afternoon Bev Robinson, the assistant pastor from the Ex- eter United Church, visited to deliver the weekly church service, and was aceom panied on the piano by Robert Cameron. Exercise was the name of the game for Wednesday morning, which got residents going for their monthly birthday party held in_ the afternoon. . Happy Birthdays go out to Asa Deeves, Bill McKenzie and Dawson MacKey. Queensway rang in the new year in style, wake New Year's Eve Dance. It was a toe- tappin', shoe shufflin' good time. Residents even got the opportunity to make resolu- tions, then let go of -helium filled balloons in- to the dark, cool, evening sky. It was a memorable evening to say the least. On January 4, residents had the pleasure of once again welcoming George Mathonia and friends to entertain in the afternoon at the tea party. With the combination of good friends and good music it immediately add- ed up to a super Sunday afternoon. Residents have chance for facial HURONVIEW — In the afternoon of December 30, the auditorium here was set up to accommodate residents wishing to have a facial or cleanup of shoes. Natural] the ladies are interested in the makeup ses- sions, but everyone likes the feel of putting on freshly cleaned shoes. On Wednesday afternoon, everybody gathered in the big hall where they celebrated the end of the old year, and welcomed in the new. It was a great party, and while residents enjoyed the company of friends for some refreshment, we were pleasantly entertained by the piano music of Ed Stiles. Some residents stayed up and watched the New Year come in. A dinner was served to residents and visitors. A great number of tragedies took place in 1986 with much loss of life. James Bechtel officiating' Flower bearers were his grandchildren, Brenda Williamson and Kevin Fisher. Pallbearers were grandsons Dennis Fisher, Brent Fisher, Robert Johnston, Barry Sullens as well as Alex Nethery and Clare Van Camp. Interment in Clinton Cemetery. May Hanley May Hanley of Hamilton, and formerly of Clinton, died at the home of her daughter in Townsend on January 2. She was 86 year's old. After her marriage to Frederick Hanley, the couple lived in Clin- ton until 1952 at which time they moved to Sarnia where they lived until Mr. Hanley's death in 1967. In 1968, Mrs. Hanley. moved to Hamilton where she resided until recently when she had gone to be at her daughter's. *he was 'a former member of Wesley Willis United Church and a past member of the Clinton Women's Institute and Wesley - Willis UCW. Mrs. Hanley is sJlrvived by one daughter, Mrs. David (Lois) Longland of Townsend, and one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lois Hanley of Wiarton. Also surviving are six grand- children and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Hanley was predeceased by her hits - band and one son, Robert. A funeral and committal service was held on January 5 at Ball and Falconer Funeral Home, Clinton, with Rev. James Bechtel officiating. Interment in Bayfield Cemetery.
