Knox United Church Service The minister Gary Shuttleworth con- ducted the morning service at Knox United Church on December 29. Organ and piano prelude was played by Mrs. Gordon Gross and Lori Millian. Call to Worship, Life and Work of the Church and prayers were given. Several hymns were sung. ` Mrs. Barry Million and her daughter Lori played a duet on piano entitled "Hallanhi Chorus." The flowers on the communion visitin table were in memory of the late Catherine Jackson. The minister told the children's story and they went to their Sunday School rooms with teachers Lori and Donna Lynn Armstrong and Gail Dobie. ; The minister's sermon was entitled "If you want to be. first". Offertory prayer and dedication of gifts were given and offering was received by Roger Cunningham and Teadde Bakker. Mr Shuttleworth proneune- e'd the Benediction and the service closed with the congregational benediction "Unto Us a Child is Born." tev+huttteworth conducted the morning service at Knox United Church on January 4. Janice Webster played selections on piao and Lori Millian played the organ prelude. The call to worship and prayers, and the life and work of the church were given followed by the Lord's Prayer. "The Old Rugged Cross" was sung. . Mr. Shuttleworth told the children's story, then they went to Sunday Schoo under the direction of teachers Anita Gross, Ruth Armstrong and daughters Donna Lynn and Lori. The minister's sermon was entitled "His Coming". Offering was received by Murray Rollison and Ken Ramsey. Mr. Shuttleworth pro- nounced the benediction and service closed with the congregational benediction "Lord we pray." Residents entertain over festive season By Betty McCall WALTON - Pam Hackwell, Toronto, spent some holidays prior to Christmas with Clair Porter of Surrey, B.C. then returned to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hackwell and Dean. Patricia Hackwell of Toronto was home over the holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Humphries and family of London visited over the holidays with Mary Humphries. Stan and Wanda Stroop and family of Palmerston and George and Kim Kruse of Bayfield spent Christmas Day at the same home. George Taylor and boys had New Year's dinner with Roy and Helen Brenie. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Machan and Laura Machan of Sarnia visited on December 29 with Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Reid. Bernice Gray of Stratford visited one day recently at the same home. Debbie Wey of New Brunswick visited over the Christmas Holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Campbell Wey. Mr. and Mrs. 'Allan Searle spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Penn- ington and Cory of Goderich. Gail Searle, Brampton was home for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Mitchell held their Christmas on Boxing Day. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mitchell and Doug, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mitchell, and girls; Mr. and Mrs. Doug Mitchell and family; Mrs. Cuthill, Seaforth; Sarah Stephenson; Helen Mitchell, Jack Mitchell, Brussels; and Helen Mitchell, Listowel. Bruce Clark and family spent a few days snowmobiling while visiting with Pam's parents up. north. Boxing Day guests with Bill and Marie Coutts were Allan and Karen Carter and girls, Clinton, Connie Ingram, Mississauga, Greg and Nancy Bennett, Brussels, Ross and Margaret Bennett and Peter, Walton. Ben Stevenson and boys spent Boxing Day with Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Stevenson when other family members were home for the. holiday. Vance Stevenson, Whitby, spent a couple of days with Ron Stevenson. Brad Moore, Seaforth, visited with Chris Steven- son on New Year's Day. The Ryan families held a get together on New Year's Day when over 40 members met for a dinner held in the Walton hall. Earl and Eva Mills returned to their home on Saturday. Earl had been in St. Joseph's hospital over Christmas. Eva stayed with Murray Mills and family in Brantford. Earl returned from hospital on Tuesday, was able to spend New Year's with Drs. Gerd and Jean Westermann, Burlington.
