No objections were voiced by the public or the committee and Clinton Council passed the appropriate bylaws at their December 15 meeting. The Lions Club headed Back the Biter Days, a campaign set up to raise funds for their two-year member, Ron Nesbitt, who lost the use of his legs and arms in a swimm- ing accident this summer. They set a goal of $30,000 which would pay for a fully equipped van for the 21 -year-old man. They not only reached their goal, but sur- passed their expectations in raising $45,000. FORMER CLINTON MAYOR DIES - A fomer mayor for the Town of Clinton, A. Berton Stanley, died at London's University Hospital on November 25. He was 71. Mr. Stanley was mayor of the town in 1959. He had a seven year history in municipal politics in Clinton, including four years as reeve, one year as deputy reeve and one year as councillor. "The guidelines are not Seaforth's idea, they're the Ministry's. We've already spent $300,000 trying to comply with their regula- tions and we are coming to realize we can't afford it." Mr. Ross added it is time the ministry be made aware of the fact that a town the size of Seaforth cannot afford what it is they are proposing for it in terms of landfilling. "We don't really have any choice, but we've had enough of this. We're going to put a lot of pressure on the ministry from here on in. We've done our part, and we want to know what they can do to help us. We've got a lot of concerns."
