(Anne Narejko photo) Grade 3 class visits Lampton Heritage Museum By Jennifer Nott, Julia de Jong , and Michelle Govenlock HULLETT TWP. -Last week the Grade 3 class went to Grand Bend to the Lambton Heritage Museum. There they saw a real pioneer log cabin. They learned how the ear- ly pioneers celebrated Christmas. Seven Classes See Play On Friday, classes from kindergarten to Grade 6 went to see a play at the Blyth Theatre called A Prairie Boy's Winter. They all enjoyed it greatly. Christmas Measuring ' This year the Grade 2 class is doing their school work on the theme of Christmas (to fit the appropriate time I. For math, they are measuring presents and candy canes and they are also working on the aspects of art and language. Sugar and Spice The Grade 1 class made gingerbread for a treat. They made them themselves, and then decorated them. Electricity Also last week a man from Ontario Hydro named Bill Allen came and visited the Grade 5 and 6s on Thursday and the Grade 7 and 8s on Friday. He talked to the Grade 5 and 6s about basic energy and to the Grade 7 United Church basement decorated by losing side N allett Central Happenings and 8s about renewable energy. The Gigantic Sundae The Grade 6 and 8s enjoyed their reward for selling the most magazines on December 11. Their reward was a 24 foot sundae. For this they used 24 liters of vanilla ice cream, six cans of whipped topping, two bags of nuts, two packages of cherries and two cans of chocolate syrup. You can imagine that this huge sundae was gone in a matter of minutes with 55 peo- ple eating it. Anyways, they enjoyed their prize greatly. by Jennifer Nott, Julia de Jong, Michelle Govenlock. By Betty McCall WALTON — The basement of Duff's United Church was decorated in the Christmas, Theme for the supper. Decorators were the losing side of the cop- per contest. Margery Huether played Christmas music at the piano as 27 sat down to a potluck supper around tables with red and green cloths, with Christmas Centre pieces. Christmas carols were sung with Doreen Backwell as pianist. Olene Dennis read the Nativity Journey followed by a reading by Gloria Wilbee. Olene then read a poem. Phyllis Mitchell gave a few interesting ar- ticles on the New Version of Christmas. Of- fering was received and dedicated. Olene closed the devotions with prayers. Marie Coutts presided for the business. Minutes of last meeting were approved as read by Audrey Hackwell. A thank you card was read by the Houstons. Doreen Hackwell gave the treasurer's report. The 25th anniversary of the UCW will be held January 11 with a special church ser- vice. Heidi McClure and Marie Coults of- fered to take up the offering. Members were reminded of coming events. All future UCW meetings in the New year will be evening meetings at 7:30 p.m.' January 4 is the installation of UCW of- ficers at the morning service. The annual congregation is January 18 beginning with a pot -luck supper. There are eight young peo- ple going to Toe Alpha on December 27 - 30. The nominating committee brought in the report of the officers for next year. Copper contest leaders for next year •are Viola Kirkby and Audrey Hackwell: The gift exchange was led by Alice Searle and Berva Watson, followed by a trivia con- test conducted by Viola Kirkby; closing the evening with a familiar Christmas Carol. Bonnie Lamble was assisted in lighting the Advent Candles, Peacle, Hbpe'and Joy by Leanne McDonald, Trish 1,C1ark and ..Amanda Workman. The organist was Elva Wilbee, ushers were Barry Hoegy, Keith Wilbee and Ray Huether. The youth group went caroling at Callander Nursing Home in Brussels Sun- day evening, then on to Bluevale Church for a Christmas Party. Family Christmas Eve service at Bluevale United Church, will be held at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday School Concert was held Sun- day afternoon with a good crowd. Children put on the program and Santa arrived to pass out his usual bag of treats. UCW holds cookie exchange at supper.... T.B. Allen Ltd. entertained their employees with a dinner and dance at the White Carnation Restaurant in Holmesville on December 13. There were 55 people in attendance. Margaret Whyte returned home on December 13 after spending two weeks in Clinton Public Hospital.
