HURONVIEW - On Tuesday and Wednes- day afternoons there were ,numerous ar- ticles on display in the auditorium. There was quite a showing of Christmas or- naments as well as many gift -giving ideas. A large number of ladies took advantage of the Lady Sinelle Facial. The hostess for this event was Marilyn Warrener from Bayfield. She gave demonstrations on the proper a of makeup and how it should be applied. The ladies who acted as models all received a personality facial. The Blyth Seniors were in charge of the December birthday party that took place in the auditorium Wednesday afternoon. Lloyd Walden was chairman. Jim Laurie and Jim McColl played a medley of violin selections and was accompanied by Elsie Henderson. At the conclu- sion of the program, refreshments were served. At noon, on Thursday all the residents and staff met in the auditorium for a turkey din- ner with all the trimmings. Prior to the meal, Ed Stiles provided Christmas music at the piano, then joined the residents for dinner. Frank Bissett thanked Mr. Stiles for his contribution, and the kitchen staff for preparing this great meal. Another successful Tupperware party was held hosted by Bernice Glen. As always there was a large display of practical and worthwhile articles, any one of which would solve the hassle of shopping for gifts. In the evening, the Salvation Army from Goderich was here for their annual visit. Residents and staff always welcome these dedicated people for their inspirational message in song and music. Before they left the army visited ear•h resident and left a gift. Reverend John Plata conducted Roman Catholic Mass in the chapel Friday morning. Residents thank the art students from Central Huron Secondary School who painted the Christmas scenes on the windows. Sunday morning worship was held in the chapel. At the beginning of the service, Reverend David Snihur lit the second candle of Advent which is Joy. In the afternoon, the bellringers from St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Wingham, presented a concert in the chapel. Gordon Leggett was the conductor. Everyone is invited to attend the Christmas Eve service taking place in the auditorium. To the family of the late 011ie Jervis, sym- pathy is extended. Christmas spirit spreads at Queensway QUEENSWAY - Nursing home residents here are really getting excited about Christmas, especially because the first seasonal party is coming up on Thursday. If, you're not in the Christmas spirit yet, come on over for the Spruce Party on December 11. Residents guarantee you'll get in the Christmas spirit. The Tuesday church service this week was given by Reverend Alles. He presented residents with a beautiful service that in- cluded singing favorite Christmas carols. Wednesday morning it was exercise time once again which always helps to perk -up a day. At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, the Aux- iliary met for the second time: Congratula- tions go to the first official auxiliary presi- dent for the term 1986-87, Lillian Baker, and secretary for the term 1986-87, Eileen Rainnie. Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., Father Mooney came in to hold mass for Roman Catholic residents. Finally, Queensway would like to share some very good news that we are veryproud to announce. Public School plans annual Christmas concert By Maureen Dunsmore VANASTRA - This Thursday, December 11, the Vanastra Public School will be holding its Annual Christmas Concert. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. and everyone is welcome. The students from all grades will travel to Blyth this Friday to see the play Prairie Boys' Winter. In the afternoon the students will be doing a follow up based on the play. VANASTRA - Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2 are busy preparing a "Mother Goose Christmas" for the concert this December 11. Grade 1 has moved back into their newly painted classroom. They have been making gifts for their Clinton High School peer The Vanastra V�ice tutors. They went to a party there on Friday. Kim Dixon Grade 3 and 4 have been making positive and negative Christmas designs in art. Some of their designs included trees, candy canes, soldiers and stockings. Dixie Embling Grade 5, 6 and 7 are finally back in their own classrooms again. The library looks great with its new paint job. Jennifer Burt won $15 when she placed se- cond in the Legion Remembrance Day essay competition. Shane Kyle won the first prize of $20. Congratulations! Lisa Gahwiler The Students' Council is planning a Christmas dance for Grades 3 to 7 on the last day of school. On December 18 the Grades 3 to 7 are going swimming at -the Recreation Centre. Carols, supper and worship service held By Mary ChesseU VARNA - Forty members, former members and otheFAgests of Varna United Church Women (OW, lenjnyed a,deliefous meal in the Sunday School room of the church on Thursday evening. Shirley Hill was the organist for the evening, accom- panied by flautist Barbara Ann Parker. Christmas music preceded the supper and carols were sung before the worship service. NOTICE Township of Tuckersmith The residents of the Township of Tuckersmith are requested by the council not to park cars on township roads during the winter months in order to facilitate snowplowing operations. Council will not be responsible for damage to any vehicle park- ed on roads or streets. Council also requests that the residents of the Township of Tuckersmith do not push or dump snow onto township roads. Doug Poulton ROADS SUPERINTENDENT TOWNSHIP OF TUCKERSMITH Barb Consitt greeted the guests and open- ed the worship with the Christmas story in poetry form. Barbara Ann Parker told how the reading of the Bible story of Jesus' birth always came before the opening of gifts in her parents' home, then read the story from Luke 2. A duet, Redeeming Lov, was sung by Brenda Consitt and Barbara Ann. Joan Beierling read Let's Put Christ Back in Christmas and Ruth Johnston read No Room in the Inn. June Cooper showed how tree decorations can be made by anyone using pipe cleaners, lace, ribbons, etc. She showed a large display of work she has done. Barbara Con- sitt presented June with a gift in apprecia- tion of her demonstration. Joan Beierling will assume the office of president in the New Year. Deb Rathwell is the vice-president. On Friday, several members of the UCW packed decorated baskets with fruit and other goodies and visited all the residents and former residents who are shut in or liv- ing in Huronview or nursing homes. Wayne Hopper named Kinsmen of the year... By Mrs. L. Stonehouse BELGRAVE - At the special Christmas meeting Wayne Hopper, of Belgrave, was named Kinsman• of the year and Jim Johnston of Wingham was presented with a plaque for all his hard work. Past President Larry Robinson was - presented with many gifts including hats, eggs, hound and also a plaque. The supper was held at the Wingham Golf and Curling Club with a most enjoyable evening. Bingo. Winners Winners of the Kinsmen Turkey Bingo held recently in the hall were: Ruth Shar- pin, Krista Bird, Dan Hunter, Ilene Haygen, Pat Shaw, Eileen Gethke, Hilda Vincent, Mrs. John Jamieson and Robena McBurney. There were 72 people in attendance. Dairy Princess Visits Angela Nethery, Huron County Dairy • Princess, had the pleasure of a visit from Ontario Dairy Princess Gayle Lewis from Middlesex County. On Tuesday they attended Bob McNeil's farm at RR 6 Goderich where school children from Blyth and Belgrave had a tour of the barn to learn more about the dairy in- dustry. In the afternoon Gayle and Angela brought greetings to the Breed Improve- ment meeting. The following day, five schools in the Goderich area visited Glen McNeil's farm. All the children received a glass of milk and a milk sticker. Christmas Meeting The Belgrave Women's Missionary Socie- ty held their Christmas meeting on December 1 at the home of Mrs. Mac Scott. Robena McBurney presided and opened with a poem, and a song was sung. Mrs. Scott read scripture and Mrs. Garner • Nicholson read a meditation on Christ's birth. Margaret Dunbar led in prayer. The roll call was answered with a Bible verse on Jesus' birth.
