There was another successful microwave
cooking school held Friday night at
Drysdale's in Hensall. A large crowd was on
hand to learn how to prepare those holiday
meals and goodies.

50th anniversary celebration for Scott's
grandparents.

Sunday dinner guests with Alphonse and

Zurich and George and Eileen Dowson of

anniversary.

Hullett Township receives
community planning grant
HULLETT TWP — Health Minister Mur-
ray Elston, the MPP for Huron Bruce, an-
nounced a $4,638 payment on a $13,252 com-
munity planning grant for the County of
Huron on behalf of the Township of Hullett.
Speaking on behalf of Bernard Grand -
maitre, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Mr.
Elston said the grant is being used by the
municipality to prepare a comprehensive
zoning by-law. A draft by-law has just been
completed.
Community planning grants from the
Ministry of Municipal Affairs are designed
to encourage municipalities to review and
update their planning programs, zoning by-
laws and other planning documents.
The grants may also be used for special
studies on local issues such as lakeshore
1development or commercial development
along highways, and for energy -conserving
planning measures.

Joan Beierling will assume the office of
president in the New Year. Deb Rathwell is
the vice-president.
On Friday, several members of the UCW
packed decorated baskets with fruit and
other goodies and visited all the residents
and former residents who are shut in or liv-
ing in Huronview or nursing homes.

KIPPEN - The sympathy of the communi-
ty is extended to Ken and Merle McLellan
and family on the death of Ken's father Joe
McLellan. Mr. McLellan farmed in the Kip -
pen area • for many;years.
Another Former `Kippen area farmer,
Ray MacKinnon also passed away recently.

The second Sunday of Advent was
celebrated at St. Andrews on December 7.
Rev. Lorne Keays' sermon was entitled
Christmas Means to Minister Unto.
The Ministry of Music was provided by
the choir singing There was no Room in
Bethlehem, accompanied by Mary Moffatt
at the organ. Mildred McGregor, represen-
ting the UCW group, assisted with the ad-
vent candle ceremony. The purple candle
was lit symbolizing penitence.
December 14 will be the White Gift Ser-
vice. There are two special White Gift pro-
jects - A special offering of money for World
Relief, and gifts for' area families, gifts for
children•of all ages and non perishable foods
will be accepted and passed on to the Huron
County Christmas Bureau. There will be a
combined Christmas Eve Service to be held
in the Kippen Church on December 24 at
7:30 p.m.
