and Tabatha Montgomery of Blyth was

of competing by the school.
On December 2 the Grade 5 and 6 class
went to Bob McNeil's Dairy Farm, near
Dungannon. The students learned about the
different kinds of dairy cattle and their
feeding habits.
Did you know their cows give 110-125
glasses of milk a day? They also have one
cow that gives 300 glasses a day. This cow
needs special care and attention.
The

A Glimpse Of Rick Hansen
By Kelly Cook and Tammi Medd
Chris Caldwell, a student at Blyth Public
School, who has Cerebral Palsy, had the
pleasure of seeing Rick Hansen in London
when Rick was passing through on
November 27.
Rick is on a world-wide tour to collect
money for spinal research. Chris was on his
way to the hospital for a regular checkup,
when he noticed a plane flying overhead
with a banner saying, "We are with you
Rick."
Chris told us that Rick was led through
London by a police escort. Other wheelchair
supporters followed behind as they made
their way through the city. Chris witnessed
this from the side of the road.
The unexpected event was especially ex-
citing for Chris because he also needs a
wheelchair for mobility. '
Say No To Drugs
By Sarah Allan
and Chrystal Cucksey
On December 5 the Grade 5 and 6 classes
listened to a presentation on drugs given by
OPP Constable Marshall, as part of their
Values Influences Peers .Program (VIP).
Constable Marshall told the students
about different types of drugs and the of-
fences involved if someone is caught carry-
ing drugs. He also described how drugs are
carried around in the cities.
The real point of the presentation was to
discuss the effect of drugs and alcohol on the
body, especially on the brain.
