Take extra care with your winter hair
'l'he long Canadian winter takes its toll on
all of us — but with proper care, there is no
reason why your hair should suffer. In fact,
your hair can play an important role in
keeping your spirits up, however bad the
winter may be.
After the Christmas — New Year
festivitie.,, just when the long winter months
begin to loom depressingly ahead, this is the
time to think about brightening up your
hair.

morale. If you are beginning to be bored
with your hair, a new perm will make styl-
ing fun again.
A different Bair cut perhaps — a style that
will suit your winter sporting needs, and still
look great for your "apres-ski" evening fun.
As far as special hair care tips are con-
cerned, it is really a matter of following the
same rules you follow for your winter skin
care. The combined harshness of air condi-
tioning and biting wind causes both the hair
and skin to become dry and sensitive.
Just as you require skin moisturizers, so
will your hair, require extra conditioning.
Your hairdresser will be able to recommend
the proper type of conditioner and perhaps a
milder shampoo.
You will notice that as the winter goes on,
there will be more and more of a build up of
static electricity in your hair, causing "fly

Christmas picture
What better time for pictures than the
holiday season. With a camera you can cap-
ture all the traditional moments instantly.
Take a picture of the family getting
everything ready for the big event. You'll,
want to remember that look on Mom's
floured face' when you catch her unex-
pectedly in the kitchen baking all the
Christmas goodies; or the mischievious way
Mittens has of getting into everything when
you're trimming the tree. Half the fun of
Christmas is watching the reaction of loved
ones open their gifts. This year, be sure to
record the expression on the 'little one's'
face when he wiwraps that train set he
wanted so badly.
You spend so much time and effort mak-
ing everything just right for the holiday
season. Wouldn't it be nice to have a picture
of all your guests seated at the dinner table
all decked out in their glittery best eager to
devour that once -a -year festive dinner? Or
of the family gathered around the piano
singing carols?
So, don't miss out on all these great photo
opportunities. Then, when it's all over, put
these special pictures in your 'Family
Christmas 1986' album so you can refer to
them year after year to see how much the
family has changed.

The important thing in winter is to make
sure your hair suits your winter lifestyle.
After all, your lifestyle changes in the °
winter. You probably wear a hat most of the
time outdoors, you may take part in more
sporting activities ... or less.
If your hairdresser is aware of your
winter lifestyle, he or she will be able to give
you just the right winter look you need to
keep your spirits up until spring.

Christmas candy tips
What could be more of a Christmas treat
than a box of homemade candy! A few mail=
ing tips for candy are: choose candies that
will travel well, like fudge, fruit drops, or
carmels. Place a layer of crushed waxed
paper in the bottom of a tin box. Divide the
box in fourths with cardboard dividers to
help prevent the candy from shifting.
Set container in a strong, larger carton.
Pack unsalted popcorn all around the
container.
