Hensall - The local library held a suc-
cessful decorating party on December 29
with 22 eager children helping to give the
library that "Christmas sparkle." Thank
you to Bev Bell for her help.
Holy Communion
Carmel Presbyterian Church, Hensall will
celebrate communion on Sunday, December
7 at 1:30 p.m. Guest Preacher will be Rev.
Gale Kay.
Shuffleboard Results
Seventeen turned out to play shuffleboard
last week at the Hensall Arena. Ladies high
scores were; Dorothy Brinmell 407, Eileen
Dowson 384, Annie Ried 300. Men's high
scores were; John Pepper 366, Percy Camp-
bell 363, Walter Spenser 355.
House Decorating Contest
To recognize the creative talents of the
residents and to encourage everyone to con-
tribute to the festive atmosphere, the Hen-
sall B.I.A. is sponsoring a House Decorating
Contest. To be considered for the December
19 judging entry forms must be submitted
by December 15.
Forms are available from any Hensall
merchant so to be eligible for the cash prizes
plus individual "Keepsake" awards, be sure
to enter.
Santa In Town
A special note to the children Santa will be
in town each Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4
pm with little Christmas favors and an at-
tentive ear for your Christmas wishes.
Tree Lighting
To welcome the Christmas season a warm
invitation is extended to all residents to
come out and take part in Hensall's first an-
nual tree lighting ceremony. It will take
place on Friday evening at..7:30 pm in front
of the Town Hall. The program will include
a choral presentation by the junior choir of
Hensall Public School, and visit from the
Jolly Old Elf himself, Santa.
Gather your neighbors, friends and family
and help launch what is hoped to become a
true community event and a seasonal tradi-
tion in the village.
Minor Hockey
The Hensall Novice team has been very
active this week with three games being
played.
Last Wednesday they defeated the
Goderich Blue team by a score of 12-1.
Scoring goals for Hensall were Blair, Moir
with four, Ray Beirling with three, Jamie
Campbell with two and one each for Brad
Hartman, Chris Taylor and Danny Taylor.
On Saturday the novice team trounced
Bayfield 17-1 with Hensall's goals being
scored by Blair Moir' with five, Brock Weiss,
Jamie Campbell, Chris Taylor, Danny
Taylor and Jason Moore with two each, and
singles by Ryan Kyle and Ray Bierling.
On Sunday the team was defeated by Ex-
eter 6-0 in a hard fought game.
The Hensall Tykes were busy as well on
the weekend. On Saturday they beat
Bayfield 14-1. Goals were scored by Brock
Weiss with five, Mark Bell with three, Jeff
Rathwell with two, Regan Neilands with two
and one each by Jeff Campbell and Graham
Keys.
Hensall Tykes hosted Blyth on Sunday and
won the game by a score of 5-1 with Mark
Bell getting three goals and Brock Weiss
scoring two.
Queensway news
On November 24 Queensway Nursing
Horne in Hensall had the last bingo game for
1986. The Bethal Reformed Church came in
once again to' present a very enjoyable
afternoon; bingo and hymn singing. Thank
you ladies for all your help in the month of
November.
November 25 once again brought a
Ceramic class with Lil Baker and Judy
Parker. Thanks to everyones' participation,
it was a very enjoyable morning. Reverend
Clayton Keupfer came and presented
residents with a very enjoyable church ser-
vice on November 25.
Wednesday was a busy day at Queensway.
In the morning the nursing aides from Con-
estoga College planned and presented their
last activity which was a Christmas Advent
service. Thank you students for all the help
and participation and residents wish you all

In the afternoon it was bowling time once
again with Muriel Gunning and Neil Regan
"racking" up the highest scores. Also,
thanks goes to Dorothy Elder and Iva Reid
for their help.
Wednesday evening brought the Zurich
Mennonite ladies to Queensway to put on an
enjoyable evening of games and fun.
A special evening was held to welcome
"Butch" Hoffman to Queensway to present
a fire-inservice for the residents. For an
hour and a half residents spent listening,
discussing and learning fire safety.
Friday afternoon was the monthly Birth-
day party. Joyce Pepper came in to enter-
tain as residents increased waistlines with
cake and icecream. Special November bir-
thday wishes are extended to Mary
Westlake, Loins Pare and. Esther Gill.
To end the week residents went out in
style with a super Sunday afternoon. Alfred
Denomme and Frank Forest came in to
entertain in a big way. Thanks fellas for a
super afternoon.
Sympathy is extended to the families of
Ethel Robinsn and Gertie' Deeves. They will
be greatly missed at Queensway.
Don't forget about the Spruce Party on
December 11. See you there! ! !

There were 13 tables of euchre in play at
the Orange Lodge card party . on Friday
evening. High prizes were won by Eleanor
McAsh and Aldie Crich; low by Rachel
Johnston and Elva Peck. Draw prize win-
ners were Retta Baird, Grace McClinchey,
Nettie McClinchey, Bill McAsh and Bob
Reid.
Congratulations to Joe Laurie who won
the dedication and sportsmanship award of
the Exeter Centennial Senior Soccer Club.
Congratulations also to Stan and Evelyn
Vanderwal on the birth of a granddaughter,
born to Gail and Glen Kirnbauer.
Roy and Gertie Elliott of Wiarton spent
Friday night and Saturday with Florence
