The Clinton Arts Committee has been working very hard recently to destroy the common myth that small towns cannot sup- port active cultural organizations. The Arts Committee has strived, as part of its man- date, to create opportunities for the public to enjoy a wide variety of high quality enter- tainment in our newly renovated Town Hall complex. They have tried to offer the com- munity chances to experience not only high calibre professional touring acts, like the re- cent Rabid Transit Comedy Caberet group CLINTON NEWS -RECORD, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1986—Page 15 s Leap Tickets Please" from Toronto, but, as well, we have sought to promote local, "hot'he-grown" amateur talent. The successful Area Talent Contest held in late October is proof that people do not need to look far in order to find people who possess amazing poise and.a variety of talent on stage. The people of Clinton and area are indeed fortunate to be entertained by another local group which has been organized under the guidance of the Arts Committee. The Clinton Community Players is a small troupe of amateur local actors who have met for the last 10 weeks to rehearse a three act comedy which will dedut on the Town Hall stage this coming Thursday, Friday, takes place in a hotel room in Chicago where and Saturday evening at 8:00 pm. This play has so many funny and original lines that you'll need to bring your calculator to keep track of them all. But be warned: don't expect a serious, philosophical message. Lover's Leap is 100 per cent, no holes barred, plain good fun. It's a super adult comedy suitable for all audiences both young and old. Take a close look at the rehearsal photos on this page. Yes, that's right. All the actors are local people who have committed themselves to the task of making this play a huge success. You'll recognize Bernie Pugh, Sandy Stuart, Linda Linfield, Floyd Her- man, Dan Steyn, and Cheryl Jefferson. This Thursday, Friday and Saturday night these six actors will don their costumes, apply their makeup, throw caution to the wind, and do their best to provide you with a fan- tastic local entertainment opportunity. This is sure to be a community event which will be talked about for weeks after- wards. In fact, many businesses in the com- munity have already shown their unhesitating support for -this event. Many other individuals have given much of their time and talent to assist our inaugural production. Why not plan right now, this moment, to attend a performance of Lover's Leap. Tickets are sure to go fast. Call the Town Hall offices during normal business hours to reserve your tickets. Adult tickets will sell for $5.00 and students tickets will be priced at $3.00. Because auditorium seating is limited, only a certain number of tickets will be sold for each night. Avoid disappoint- ment! Call 482-3997 and say "Lover's Leap Tickets Please". Not only will you' be pur- chasing a great entertainment bargain, but also, you will be destroying the notion that amateur theatre is an idea which can't work here. An Amateur Adult Theatre Group can and will snake a valuable cultural contribu- tion to this community. Express your sup- port for this most "creative" idea.
