The Clinton Junior "D" Mustangs had a
bad weekend, losing 5-2 to Lucan, 5-0 to
Mount Brydges and 7-3 to Exeter.
In their first game of the weekend, on
November 21 against Lucan, the Mustangs
kept the game close throughout the first
period.
Although they fell behind before two
minutes had passed in the game, Devon Col-
quhoun scored an unassisted power play
goal at the 7:47 mark to tie it up.
Dean Armstrong then 'put the Clinton
team ahead on passes from Randy Mar-
riage and Scott Gilders at 9:05 into the
game, but Lucan replied with one of their
own for the tie approximately one minute
later.
The Mustangs again took the lead with
7:18 gone in the second, but this was to be
for Mustangs
the last of their scoring as Lucan went on to
score three unanswered goals and take
home the win.
Scoring this last goal was Dean Lawrie
and Randy Marriage and Scott Gilders
assisted. •
Against Mount Brydes the Mustangs
couldn't put one in the net while their op-
ponents scored three times in the first
period and twice in the third for the win.
In their final game of the weekend, Randy
Marriage scored twice in the first to give
Clinton a 2-1 lead over Exeter at the end of
that period.
Clinton, however, was held scoreless in
the second period and fell behind 5-2.
Devon Colquhoun scored early in the third
to bring the Mustangs a bit closer, but it was
to no avail as Exeter went on to score two
more, leaving the score at 7-3.
Atoms extend unbeaten streak
In Clinton on November 11 the Clinton
W.toms ran their current unbeaten streak to
0 games by dealing Listowel a 5-1 setback.
It was an exciting match featuring some
excellent end to end rushes and good pass-
ing plays by each team. The goaltenders of
Clinton, Derek Hoggarth and Dave
Nahrgang also played another strong game.
In the first period Clinton came out strong
as Lee Gibbings
beautiful
three way passingpaY from CraigMcAsh
and Nathan Burns.
Exactly one minute later Chris Kennedy's
high wrist shot on a pass out from the corner
from Danny Wildfong gave Clinton a 2-0
lead. Thirty-five seconds later Clinton's
shifty centreman, Nathan Burns, took a long
lead pass from Lee Gibbings to beat the
Listowel goalie clearly from just outside the
crease. Shane MacDonald, who started the
play deep in the Clinton zone also earned an
assist.
Clinton scored the only goal of the second
period when Mark Livermore notched his
22nd goal of the young season on a perfect
setup from linemate Chris Kennedy at 3:45.
In the third period both teams traded
goals. Jason Brooks scoring for Listowel at
4;06 to cut Clinton's lead to 4-1. Danny
Wildfong, on a Chris Kennedy rebound shot,
gave Clinton their final tally at 5:28.
