Sorority plans dinner
CLINTON - On November 11, Zeta Omega
members held their sorority meeting at the
home of Darlene McKee. The meeting
began with the treasurer's report of $165 as
the present bank balance, and the decision
to hold the Christmas dinner on December 9
at Dagmar Crawford's home was made.
Mrs. Cook will cater.
During May 22-24 there will be a Beta
Sigma Phi Conference in Ottawa for all in-
terested.
Marilyn Tyndall represented Zeta Omega
on Remembrance Day at the town
ceremony.
Blood Donor Clinic
The sorority will again assist the Red
Cross Society, making telephone reminders
for the blood donor clinic to be held on
November 25 at Central Huron Secondary
School.
The roll call question at the meeting was,

were asked to sign up for one of thein.
On November 15 there was a card party at
Donna Woodall's home with 12in atten-
dance. After an evening of various games,
Rick Tyndall and Lorraine Bell came out
the winners, winning a mug. Booby prizes
(for the lowest scores) of a roll of paper
towel and a roll of toilet tissue went to
Joanne Carr and Floyd Herman respective-
ly. The mystery lunches were auctioned
with $6 being the top dollar spent.
On November 22, after the Rabid Transit
performance to be held at the town hall, the
sorority has been invited to a social being
held by their sister sorority in town.
Darlene's program for the evening was
guest Linda Talbot who is a hairdresser
near Bayfield. She showed the members dif-
ferent hair styles and discussed hair care to
those who inquired.
The next meeting will be held on
November 25 at Gail Sinclair's home.

Ontario grain and oilseed producers can
expect a payment from the federal $1 billion
deficiency program announced last month
by the Mulroney government.
"The payment will be in cash, and is to be
paid out before the end of the calendar
year," reported Brigid Pyke, First Vice -
President of the Ontario and Canadian
Federations of Agriculture. After attending
a Nov. 6 meeting in Ottawa with Federal
Agriculture Minister, John Wise and
Minister responsible for the Canadian
Wheat Board, Charlie Mayer, Mrs. Pyke
presented the case for Ontario producers
along with representatives from Ontario's
Corn, Soyabean, Wheat and Pork Boards.
"We expect the deficiency payment to be
based on three factors: seeded acreage,
regional productivity, and the shortfall in
commodity prtees caused by the U.S. Farm

Bill and subsidies in the European

The total payment to Ontario producers
should be between $120 and $150 million,
depending on which of the distribution for-
mulas considered at the Nov. 6 meeting is
actually used.
The $150 million payment would result
from the use of a formula heavily weighted
by the average value of grains and oilseeds
produced over a five year period. The lower
figure could result if the degree of "hurt" in
1986 over 1985 was given significant weight.
It is argued that if wheat prices have fallen
relatively more, than other grain prices,
then financial distress in the West will be
more acute
