Successful hunt
First, I want to remind everyone to
fill out their mandatory report for the
deer hunt and send it in to Wingham. It
must be in their hands by November 20.
If you don't, you will be automatically
eliminated from next year's draw.
The hunt this year has been a great,
success with 189 deer checked in to
date. More will come, and it's shaping
up to be the best yet. One of the more
ma-
jorpleasant s
charges werectse laid during the hunt,
and that does a lot for hunter public
relations,
Remember the fawn we tagged, little
number 11. Well, he's still out there,
probably growing into a big buck.
Three other tagged deer were collected,
however, and brought to the check sta-
tion for examination. These deer pro-
vide invaluable information regarding
the herd, so please remember to report
any tagged animal or bird which you
might get.
Christmas is closing in fact, so it's
time to start thinking about a gift for
your favorite outdoor person. Outdoor
enthusiasts are often hard to buy for,
but with the help of a good catalogue,
things can be made a lot easier.
One of the best catalogues is the L.L.
Bean from Freeport, Maine, especially
now that Eddie Bauer is n4 _in the mail
order business any longer. Actually,
even when you consider exchange on
the U.S. dollar, customs, etc., the price
is still better than what Eddie Bauer us-
ed to be. With the new custom's service,
the parcel comes right to your Post Of-
fice, and all charges can be paid by
Visa or Mastercard. L.L. Bean also
have a toll free telephone number
which can be used in Canada to order
items and again they can be charged
directly to your Visa or Mastercard. To
obtain a catalogue, just drop a note to
L.L. Bean Inc., Freeport, Maine,
04033-0001 or call 1-800-221-4221 and ask
them to send one to you. •
So what are some ideas for a
Christmas gift? Well, there's a lot of
selection in their Christmas issue so it
shouldn't be too difficult to find

something.
An excellent little stocking stuffer,
for example, might be a combination
compass, waterproof match case and
whistle. It's an ideal item for any
hunter, fisherman, hiker or camper,
and could even save someone's life one
day. At $6.50 U.S., it's a worthwhile
investment.
And they have clothes, watches, lug-
gage, flashlights, dog equipment,
cookware, food gift packs, decoys, fur-
niture and just about anything else you
can think of. It's a very easy catalogue
to browse through and I'd be very sur-
prised if anyone couldn't find at least
one thing they'd like to have.
One last note! L.L. Bead is open 24
hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a
year.

With more and more of Canada's
fishermen finding that the cool, quiet
night is more relaxing and the fish are
more active, Woodstream/Canada,
Niagara Falls, Ontario, has introduced
three new Fenwick(R) fishing tackle
boxes featuring high intensity lights
that automatically go on when the
boxes are opened. The tackle boxes
enable fishermen to change lures, put
.on fresh bait and perform other func-
tions without using a flashlight that
could frighten fish away if the beam
strikes the waiver.
"Night fishing has gained in populari-
ty in recent years," according to Terry
Garner, Woodstream/Canada Presi-
. dent. "At the same time, fiber optics
technology and the availability of new
materials allowed us to develop acrylic
plastic trays that are ideal for a lighted
tackle box," Garner said. The translu-
cent trays conduct the light from
battery -powered lights that provide a
soft glow throughout the boxes that is
bright enough to allow fishermen to tie
knots, select lures, and bait lines.
"Night fishing is an exciting sport,
but it has always been a challenge to
fishermen when the time comes for
changing lures or bait. The temptation
is to use a flashlight, but the moving
beam of such a light will put down most
species of fish," Garner pointed out.
"Until now a fisherman had to take
precautions to shield the moving beam
of a flashlight to make sure it didn't
strike the water. These lighted tackle
boxes eliminate that problem," Garner
said. If there is a need for a flashlight -
type focused beam of light, the lights
can easily be removed and used as hand
lights. For daytime fishing, they can be
switched off to conserve bulbs and
batteries.
There's a Fenwick lighted tackle box
sized for all Canadian sport fish. One.
called the FenLite(tm) 6.4, is a four -
tray box with 36 compartments and
removable dividers. Another, called the
Fenwick Moonshine(tm) 1803, provides
three trays with 24 compartments, plus
a bonus of two compact utility boxes.
There is also a lighted satchel -type box
called the FenLite(tm) 6.1 with 15 ad-
justable compartments, plus 10 addi-
tional compartments in a cantilevered
tray.
While designed as tackle boxes,
Garner pointed out they also make
ideal first aid kits and can also be used
as tool kits. Retail price points start at
$40.

Clinton Atoms blast
Milverton by 16-1 score
In Milverton on November 10 the Atoms
blasted their fourth straight opponent of the
week by thrashing Milverton to the tune of
16-1.
Again it was the line of Mark Livermore,
Chris Kennedy and Danny Wildfong literally
destroying their opponents as they picked
up 23 scoring points in the lopsided contest.
Mark Livermore pared the onslaught with
nine points on five goals and four assists. In
the past three games Livermore has ac-
cumulated 13 goals and eight assists.
Chris Kennedy was right behind his little
centremen with four goals and four assists.
In Kennedy's last three games he has scored
Senior
Redmen split
volleyball games
The Senior Boys Volleyball team from
Central Huron Secondary School (CHSS)
travelled to Mitchell on November 7 to com-
pete in their final regular season
tournament.
They entered the tournament in a virtual
tie for the final playoff position with St.
Mary's and Goderich.
In the first match they met up with St.
Mary's in a crucial match. The first game
®was a classic volleyball game. The Redmen
played their best game of the season and
won by a 19-17 score. St. Mary's was unable
to put up as impressive an effort in the se-
cond game and Clinton won fairly easily by
a 15-5 score.
Unfortunately, Ron McKay sustained a
severe ankle injury during that game and
was unable to play again.
In the second match against the thi d
place Mitchell Blue Devils, the locals were
unable to maintain their superior 1'eVel of
play from the previous match and were
defeated 15-5 and 15-8 by a strong Mitchell
team.
In the final match against second place
Listowel, Central Huron put up a better ef-
fort winning the first game 15-7 but dropping
a very close 17-15 second game.
The Redmen have now advanced to the
volleyball playoffs.
10 goals and added 12 assists.
The other third of the line had Danny
Wildfong scoring wo goals and adding four
assists. Wildfong has nine goals and seven
assists in his last three contests.
,Not only are these three players playing
super hockey at the present, but Nathan
Burns is also having a fine season as a first
year Atom. Against Milverton, Nathan had
a hat trick and with the goals Nathan now
has 13 for the season.
Other scorers for Clinton were Craig
McAsh with two goals and one assist, and
Scott Wright with one goal and one assist.

Mustangs drop two games
CLINTON - The Clinton Junior "D"
Mustangs dropped two games over the
weekend losing 9-5 to Brussels and 3-0 to
Belmont.
Against Brussels on November 9, the
Mustangs kept it close in the first period
with two goals from Randy Marriage.
Assisting on the first goal were Wayne
Smith and Scott Gilders. Smith also assisted
on the, second goal, as did Dean Armstrong.
However, these two goals were ' ndt
enough, and at the end of the first Brussels
led 3-2.
Brussels scored four more goals in the se-
cond period, compared to Clinton's one from
Mark Clausius, who was assisted by Bob
Dupee and Rob Stanfield.
Although the Mustangs came back and
netted two more in the third period,
Brussels also had two, leaving the score at
9-5.
Randy Marriage got his third goal for the
hat trick on passes from Wayne Smith and
Devon Colquhoun for one of these goals,
while Rob Stanfield scored on a pass from
Bob Dupee for the other.
During their November 9 game Clinton
was unable to put one in the net, while Bel-
mont scored one in each of the three periods
to give them the 3-0 win.
