Hydro rates
to increase
Following review of the Ontario Energy
Board's report on 1987 rates, , Ontario
Hydro's Board of Directors has approved an
average rate increase of 5.5 per cent, effec-
tive January 1.
The increase is lower than the 5.9 per cent
rise recommended by the Ontario Energy
Board, and higher than the 4.9 per cent in-
crease proposed by Hydro earlier this year.
• `It also recognizes our customers' need
for safe, reliable and reasonably -priced
electrical service," he said.
The 1987 increase will represent an addi- i
tion of about $2.20 a month to the bill of a
typical (850 kilowatt-hour) municipal

customers could pay a bit more or less, ;
depending on the individual utility's costs.
