How many times have you strained to see your way through breath -fogged windows — after suffering through the frustrating and finger -numbing process of starting a cold engine? By the time you arrive at work, with heater working and windows clear, you're already dreading the prospect of again going through the entire process when homeward bound. All this can be a thing of the past, thanks to an ingenious product — the interior car warmer. You may never again have to scrape frost off windows, strain your eyesight or blow on your hands to warm er driving them as you gingerly handle an icy -cold steering wheel. The unique interior 'pre -warming' unit plugs into a 120 volt outlet and keeps the in- terior of your vehicle warm overnight. A deluxe model features an automatic. timer which turps the warmer on at the time you set it for. Each model has a built-in safety shut-off thermostat. Warm batteries are lively batteries Thousands of Canadian vehicle owners will sleep easier during the coming cold winter nights knowin that their vehicle bat- teries are tucked into warm blankets of their own. Other thousands will sleep fitfully, tossing and turning while visions of dead batteries, towing charges and frustrating delays in getting to work dance through their heads. Here are the cold facts: At zero degrees Fahrenheit a fully charg- ed automotive battery provides only 40 per- cent of its total cranking power. And at minus 20°F your battery must start an engine that requires three and a half times more cranking power than it would at 72°F. This effort on the part of your battery drains so much power that it often does not com- pletely recharge during a short drive to work. This means that on your next start-up there may not be enough power in the bat- Protectmg your By winter's end our nation's highways (and its cars) will have been covered with some 10 million tons of salt. While road salt may save countless lives from icy ac- cidents, it does take its toll on auto -bodies, reminds the Car Care Council. Without proper maintenance on a car's protective finish, road salt and its southern partner, salty sea air, can rust fenders and corrode body sheet metal in no time. The only protection a car has against cor- rosive environmental conditions is its primer and paint job. Just two gallons, tery to crank the engine fast enough to create combusion. When used in combination with an engine heater, a battery warmer provides the nearest thing possible to 100 percent star- ting reliability. The battery warmer helps to retain battery warmth even when the warmer is not plugged in. As a matter of fact, the insulation is so effective that it also keeps the battery cooler in hot weather. car's finish representing approximately one percent of the total cost of the car, serve as a barrier against rust and corrosion.
