CLINTON - The afternoon unit of Wesley -
Willis UCW met September 18 at the home of
Bess Fingland. Kathleen Whitmore chaired
the meeting with her usual interesting
approach.
Nineteen ladies were ready to take on the
autumn work after no meetings since June.
At that meeting they enjoyed a happy time
in the church followed by a raspberry sup-
per supplied by Poss Livermore.
The business part of the meeting was
quickly despatched. Secretary's report
given by Edna Stewart in the absence of
Marg Cole. Treasurer's report was given by
Helen Rathwell. Anne Broadfoot led in
prayer and scripture reading.

ladies for its humor and interest and food for
thought.
The roll call was answered by answering,
Remember When? Humorous and varied
were the replies and food for laughter.
Helen Rathwell gave a word picture of
Clinton as it once was in 1880 - an eye-opener
for many.
Some of the industries of long ago are two
large salt blocks, Stepleton the larger, the
organ factory, a separator factory, two
planning and sash mills, p flax mill, a large
flour mill, a steam carriage factory, a
Woollen factory, a tannery and many more.
Besides all this, there were several hotels,
chief among them were the Rattenburg and
Commercial.
The meeting closed in which laughter
played an important part, laughter that
divine disinfectant. -
A turkey dinner served by the hostess
closed a most interesting meeting.

Zeta Omega members
to put on a fashion show
. CLINTON - The second meeting of Zeta
Omega Sorority for 1986 was held at the
home of Debbie Roy. The meeting question
this week was "What household chore gets
done last in your home?"
The hush Party will be held at the
Vanastra Curling Club.
After a very lengthy discussion on Ways
and Means, it was decided that members
will do a Fashion Show in the spring.
In other business Janice Rose showed her
purchases made for the children at the Clin-
ton Public Hospital.
After the meeting the rest of the evening
was spent making homemade chocolates of
all kinds. Each member had hands-on ex-
perience and all agreed this undertaking is
certainly much cheaper and just as.
delicious as chocolates purchased in'the
stores.
The evening ended with members tasting
their chocolates. Next meeting will be the
Rush Party on October 14.

Apples "crunch"
the world
around
Canadian apple producers have every
reason to be optimistic. The -1985 crop is big-
ger and better than last year's. And that
means increased sales, both at home and
abroad.
More than 50 Million kilograms of Cana-
dian apples, worth about $32 million, were
exported to 30 countries around the world in
1984. British Columbia, as one of the largest
producers of apples in the country, ac-
counted for 70 per cent of total Canadian ex-
ports in 1984.

memories of the 30 years spent in the
