Band has an interesting outlook

On September 15, Central Huron Secon-
dary School was visited by a small band,
with an interesting outlook on life, that they
hoped to pass on to the students.
This group was Free Fare, five guys from
St. Petersburg Fla., who are spending the
next nine months touring Canada and the
U.S.A. telling teens about the problems
caused by peer pressure and how God can
help. During these months they hope to do
500 concerts, and show 500 schools that it i
possible to live your life without submitting
to the pressures of others, and doing• things
that you know are wrong.
When talking with the band the students
got the feel of what they were trying to say,
and that they were serious.
Jay Bridges, lead guitarist, said, "Stay
away from drugs, especially alcohol, it's a
total` waste. There's so many good qualities
in everyone, you just have to reach back and
look for them, you'll find 'em."
Two years ago when Freedon Jam,
another Y.A.S. band, yisited the school
many people didn't come to the ,perfor-
mance because they thought it was going to
be alot of bible singing and gospel
preaching. A rumor was even circulating
that the members of the' band HAD to read
the bible every day or they would be kicked
out. None of this turned out to be true, and
none of it was true with Free Fare. The
songs they did were popular songs of the
year, and the. preaching was no more than
five young guys asking their peers not to
buckle under and not to give in when so-
meone tries to get you to do something you
feel is wrong.
