It is an antique car buffs dream when ap-
proximately 30 proud antique and classic
car owners show up at the Threshermen's'
Reunion to display their cars.
"It will carry on quite a bit the same as
last year. We had 30 some entries last
year," said Gordon Radford, who has been
running the show for the past five or six
years. "I would think we'll have the same
amount or better this year."
Of the cars at the show, Mr. Radford said
some are from outside the area, but many
are local cars.
Once again this year a trophy sponsored
by Clinton Auto Parts will be awarded for
the best car. Judging will be a bit different
this year though, as for previous shows
there were three judges.
"Each entry in the show will be given a
slip to vote for the best car," Mr. Radford
explained.
Last year's winner was Tom Allen with
his 1926 Chrysler, while in 1984 Murray Hall
of Wingham won with a 1914 Model T Ford

Touring and in 1983 the trophy went to
Harold Butler for his 1926 Chev.
"They get a big trophy, and they give it up
after a year and get a small one, " Mr. Rad-
ford said.
Mr. Radford knows about the antique car
business as he,pwns a 1931 Model A Ford
with a rumble seat. Although his car will be
at the show, he said he won't put it up for
judging.
He explained that to restore a car today it
can be very expensive, but besides money,
something else is needed , for restoration
work. "You need a lot of patience."
Canadians today owe much of their prosperity
to our highly efficient food producers. They have
enabled us to enjoy the highest quality food at
some of the lowest prices in the world.
Our farmers can do this, in large part, thanks
to the inventors and developers of farm machinery.
Their efforts have allowed farmers to mechanize
food production to a point where one farmer can
feed 96 of his countrymen and still have some left
over to fill the hungry mouths of the world.
The Blyth Threshermen's Reunion each year
celebrates the ingenuity, dedication and hard work
of these mechanization pioneers.
I would like to congratulate the organizers of the
reunion on marking their 25th Anniversary and
wish them many more annual celebrations for
years La cotyle.
