Library Park will no longer have the old style of hydro poles. On August 21, Clinton Public Utilities Commission employees took the final pole out on Rattenbury Street. These wooden poles have been replaced with the modern ones which allow the wiring to go underground. (Anne Narejko photo) Robinson reunion held in East Wawanosh... .. fr. ompage 6 . relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Park of Petrolia on August 24 on the occasion of Mr. and Mrs. Maitland Edgar's 35th Wedding Anniversary which was August 22. A smorgasbord dinner was enjoyed by all. During the meal Mait and Mary were asked to be seated together and everyone sang Happy Anniversary to them. An anniversary cake which had been decorated for the occasion was on display and gifts were presented to the honored couple: Those attending were from: New Hamp- shire, U.S.A., Aylmer, Tavistock, Lucknow, Wingham, Blyth, Belgrave, Brigden and Petrolia. Dr.; and Mrs. Tom Lockridge of Man- chester, New Hampshire, Ruth Lockridge of Toronto, Kathleen Lockridge of Wingham and Mrs. Charles Johnston of Blyth were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse on Tuesday. In the evening, with Mrs. Irlrna Edgar of Wingham, all visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Edgar. Cathy Nichols of Toronto and Betty Gjas of Sault Ste Marie spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. George Michie. On Saturday they attended the -presentation Of the play "Gone to Glory" at the Blyth Festival. Adam and Luke MacLennan of Kitchener spent a few holidays this past week with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. George Michie. Muriel Coultes has returned from 10 days in Sudbury where she was a Commissioner to the. 31st. General 'COunhil'`of the. United Church of Canada. Jim Cook of Bramalea visited on the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cook. Sympathy is extended to Dorothy Procter on the death of her sister Mrs. Carl Bennett of Owen Sound. A surprise birthday garden party was held for Tony Straker with friends and relatives coming from Streetsville, Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton, Orangeville, Arthur, •Lucknow-, Whitechurch, .Wingham and B.elgrave. The blessing was given by Father Frank Dentinger and a buffet dinner was en- joyed byall. Thought provoking games were played and prizes were won by children and adults. In- stead cards will be played and shuffling will take place at the Senior's Shuffle Courts behind the IOOF Hall downtown. This will take place August 28. and September 4 at 1:15 p.m. If the weather isunfavorable, the rain dates will be Friday, August 29 and Fri- day, September 5. Everyone is welcome. Wright Reunion The 30th. Wright Reunion was held on August 10 , at the Kirkton-Woodham Com- munity Centre with over 40 in attendance. After dinner, Gordon Wright . of Alliston conducted the business. The 1987 reunion will be held at the same place on the second Sunday of August. President G. ,Wright and secretary Laurabelle Reichart will continue for 1987. Esther Wright, Ruth Wright and Bob Ross all had the same score in a word contest. The oldest 'personattending was Gordon Wright and the youngest was Laura Wright. Lorne Ross and' Esther Wright each had eight family members present. Valentine's Aikenhead elan gathers Day birthday was Heatner Hardernan. Spencer Jeffrey wore the largest shoe. Those travelling the farthest distance were Ivana Wright with children Grace, Wesley and Jonathon who.came from Toronto. The newest grandparents were Doris and Spencer Jeffrey. Orland Reichart had the most objects in his pocket. The children enjoyed outdoor games and sports conducted by Lois and Wayne Teb- butt, Brenda and James Wright and Esther Wright. Personals Welcome to Jeff and Cindy Raeburn and children Jaime and Ben who have returned to Hensall from Alberta. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bozzatto retuned recently ,from their trip to Barbados. HENSALL - The first Jack and Reta , Aikenhead Reunion was held on August 24 at the Community Park. Of the 107 descen- dants - 62 signed the register, four of these being visitors. The afternoon began with races of: four and under - Angie • Collins, Janie Smyth, Adam Smyth; six and under - Lori Collins, Kelly Collins, Danny Collins; 10 and under - Mike Rimmer, Lori Collins, Danny Collins; 12 and under - Leanne Rimmer, Mike Rim- mer, Jeff Oesch. 12 and over men - George Collins; tied for 2nd Billie Collins and Gerry Neilands; 12 and over ladies - Leanne Rimmer, Bernice Petrie, Peggy Willert; Ladies Kick the Slip- per - Jo -Ann Smyth, Sue McLay, Peggy Willert; Men's Kick the Slipper - Billie Col- lins, George Collins, Ron Ferguson. Three -Legged Race - Bernice Petrie and Leanne Rimmer, Barb and Jeff Oesch, Jeremy Willert and Gerry Neilands; Egg Toss - Wayne Petrie and Lloyd Rimmer, Jeff Oesch and Mike Rimmer, Bernice Petrie and Leanne Rimmer;, Balloon Toss - Gerry Neilands and George Collins, tied for 2nd Barb & Roy Oesch and Wayne Petrie & Lloyd Rimmer. After the races the men played ball, and the ladies had a shower for Sue McLay.Win- ners of the Elimination contest conducted by -Jo -Anne Smyth were -Jewry Rimmerand- Peggy Willert. Youngest person present - Cameron James Neilands; Lucky spot - Barb Oesch; Guessing Smartie" - Marie Collins; Draw for Lawn Chair"- Jo -Anne Smyth; and Table - Larry Pushelberg. It was decided to hold the 1987 Reunion in Hensall; only one week earlier on Sunday, August 16th. The directors for 1987 are Er- vine Willert, Ken Aikenhead, Charlie Broad - foot, Linda Hunt and Bruce Collins. Ernie King entertains The Clinton CB Club members enjoyed a pot luck supper prior to their regular meeting, held at the Wesley Willis Hall, on August 19. Following the meeting, the members were entertained with Western music by Ernie King and his eight year old daughter Michelle from Wingham, which was enjoyed by all. Joint church Irene Davis and her granddaughter Katie liathwell have been in Vancouver visiting with Irene's son Michael and visiting Expo. Also recent travellers to Expo were Jason and Erik Moore, sons of, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Moore of Hensall. A garden party was held Sunday atter- noon at the farm of Cliff Marsden in honour of the forthcoming marriage of his only daughter Kimberly to Scott Taylor of Hen- sall. The guests enjoyed the refreshments and viewing of the gifts. For many it was a first chance to congratulate the couple as Scott has been residing in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, where the couple will be liv- ing after the marriage.
