all ages
Earlier this year, the sports committee organized a:canoe rally as
part of the sesquicentennial celebrations. A good turnout featured
people of all ages and many interesting vessels. And of course, the
traditional canoe was easy to spot. (Anne Narejko photo)

THE CORPORATION OF
THE TOWN OF CLINTON
So far, the Stanley Township Ses-
quicentennial Sports Committee has alp
ikanged'a curling bonspiel, a canoe rally,
Bannockburn nature walk and a car rally,
but believe it or not, the best is yet to come.
Throughout the Homecoming Weelsend,
activities have been planned for the entire
family, so dig out the ATVs, your running
shoes and muscles, because you're in for a
real. treat.
Kicking off the activities on August 1 will
be the ATV races organized by Chuck Col-
lins and Mark Taylor. These races will
feature local riders, father and son and
mother and daughter races. Anyone wishing
a practise run should contact Mr. Collins at
262-5809.
That same evening, starting at 8:30 p.m.,
fans will witness the Stanley All Stars take
on the Colborne , All Stars. Colborne
Township is also celebrating their 150th bir-
thday and should be up for the event.
According to organizer Dale Stephenson,
there is no age limit for this slo-pitch match,
but the teams must consist of 12 men and
four women with a minimum of two women
. on the field. .
If there is one event that is a must, it's the
Warmer's Olyznpics. Starting at 2:30 p.m.,
teams consisting of two men and two women
will tackle bale throwing, joke telling, the
water bucket brigade and they will even try
their hand at animal impersonations.
Also at 2:30 p.m. will be the Kub Kar
Races. Kits are available from Bill
McGregor, 482-7539.
While the Kub Kar Races are taking
place, a parade of dolls dressed in ses-
quicentennial costume will be held.
On August 3, a men's and ladies' horse
shoe pitching competition will be held. The
action gets underway at 2 p.m. at the
Complex.
For those who would rather show off their
muscle than their accuracy, there will be an
inter -township tug-of-war competition at 2
p.m. Eight teams are scheduled to appear.
Last, but by no means least, are the
children's races. These race's are fun for
children of all ages. and include sack races,
three-legged..races, water balloon toss and
the egg toss to mention but a few.
