" cession 12. It was initially called Berne, but
later renamed Blake.
At its peak in the 1900s, Blake was the
home of a general store, a post office, two
blacksmiths and two rural churches. In the
1960s, there was a welding repair shop.
Today, approximately 12 residents call
Blake home.
Drysdale
As so often done, the hamlet of Drysdale
was named after its first settlers.
Drysdale" is located on the Hay and
Stanley Township boundary at the intersec-
tion of Highway 21. It too peaked in the 1900s
with a blacksmith shop, general i epair
business, two general stores, post office,
hotel, church and school. Now most
businesses are gone.
Hillsgreen
Situated at the intersection of Parr Line
and Tower Line, all that is left of the small
hamlet .of Hillsgreen is a store on the Hay
Township side and one house on Stanley
Township property.
At one time, Hillsgreen, which was named
after an early settler whose name was Hill,
had two churches, a store, post office, hotel,"
blacksmith, cider mill, Orange Hall and a
dozen homes.
