held on March 22 was not only the kick-off for the township's
celebrations, but was also the kick-off of the beard growing contest.

Rau, Richard Erb, Clerk Mel Graham, Jack Coleman and Howard

Who's got the finest fuzz?
It's easy to recognize a Stanley Township
man these days - just look for the men with
beards!
During the kick-off dance on March 22, 50
Stanley Township men voluntarily purchas-
ed a shaving permit ($2 to grow a beard and
$5 not to grow a beard) and have stood by
their word. On August 2, their efforts will be
judged in five categories with prizes being
awarded for first place.
The five categories are most natural col-
orful beard, longest beard, best trimmed
beard, poorest attempt at a beard and best
all round mustache and beard.

Memories for
ture years
in souvenirs
The Stanley Township Sesquicentennial
celebrations will be an occasion to
remember, but it is always nice to have a lit-
tle something around the house to jar one's
memory.
The sesquicentennial committee has
several sou`Uenirs that are both attractive
and reasonably priced. These objects will be
something to treasure and pass on to the
next generation.
For those who like to keep the sun out of
their eyes, there are baseball style hats,
available with the Stanley Township 1-5-0
crest.
There are also mugs, white with red and
blue lettering available, lapel pins, collector
spoons, sesquicentennial buttons with the
Meet and Mix in '86 slogan and of course, the
limited edition collectors plate called Days
End.
This plate is selling for $20 now.
During the Homecoming Weekend, two
souvenir booths will be set up on the Com-
plex grounds for anyone who has yet to buy
a remembrance of the occasion. One booth
will be located by the main parking lot and
the other will be, by the refreshment tent.
Souvenirs are also located at various
outlets in Varna, Brucefield, Bayfield and
Clinton.'
