Babies spend
HURONVIEW - July 14 was an extra
special time in the auditorium,. It was baby
day. Mothers who are on staff here, brought
their babies in for the residents to see and
cuddle. Perhaps it is some time since the
older mothers have had an opportunity to
hold tiny babies in their arms.
There were, babies with no hair, some with
red hair and others black. Some had big blue
eyes, while others were blessed with deep
brown. Some were baby girls and of course
there ',were l)oy babies. One thing they all
had in common, was the fact that they were
beautiful, cuddly and so well behaved. The
residents were pleased to have this chance
to visit with the babies. One thing more the
residents know, is that the moms and dads
are certainly proud of everyone of these lit-
tle tykes.
The following morning was a busy time in
the auditorium when there was an enormous
display of uniforms for nurses and other
staff members. The uniforms, in many
pastel colors and styles, made quite an im-
pression with staff.
At noon the ladies from Shady Nook
gathered outdoors for a barbecue of ham-
burgers and hot dogs with all the garnishes.
It was a sunny day, the atmosphere just
right, for everyone to enjoy their meal.
The monthly birthday party for July took
place in the auditorium. In the absence of
the ladies from Londesboro, the residents
put on an impromptu program and by the
response of the audience, the performers

ring the bells and also perform with the dan-

then played a medley of piano pieces. Fran
Reed delighted everyone with her mouth
organ selections and Ethel Hill in fine voice,
gave an interesting recitation.
One of Jim Ruddock's talents is singing

On July 17, residents from Summerhill en-
joyed their barbecue. The outdoors proved
the perfect setting while appetites were
satisfied with the mouthwatering taste of
grilled hot dogs and hamburgers.
The monthly bible Study took place in the
'afternoon in the chapel. Mrs. Prouty was in
charge and also led in the singing of hymns.
A poem entitled Reality and written by
Larry Prouty, was read by Fran Reed. A
Lively Hope was the title of the message
given by Mrs. Prouty. The meeting dosed

Bowls g members were at the Clinton
Crown i owling Lanes on July 1' for their
weekly game. The residents, really look for-
ward to this outing.
Rev. John Pluta conducted Roman
Catholic Mass on July 18.
On July 19 ai, van load and bus load of
residents took off for Colborne Township to
see the Parade in connection with the ses-
quicentennial. In spite of the heat and
humidity, residents had a great viewing
area that had been reserved. They were out
of range from the sun, and had it rained,
they Were sheltered from that as well. So
with everything considered, they were kept
fairly comfortable. The events of the day
were a huge.success.
One often hears the line, when you have
seen one parade, you have seen them all.
But not so in this case. It was an excep-
tionally good one. There was much planning
and organizing involved and the result was
definitely an outstanding success. Con-
gratulations to the people of Colborne Twp.
At the Sunday morning worship, con-
ducted by Rev. David Snihur, Mabel Scot
and John McTaggart played a mouth org n
duet. Among the guests at the service were
Caron and son Gray, and Mr. and Mrs.
Snihur of Owen Sound, David's parents.
