Things get underway Friday evening with the unveiling of Colborne Connec- tions, a pictorial history of the develop- ment of the township. At 8 p.m. the Jolly Miller Theatre will open in the Colborne School gym. The tempo picks up at 9 p.m. in Cunn- ingham's field as four -time fiddler. cham- pion Rudy Meeks and his band will provide the entertainment. The cost is $2 per person. Meeks won the. Canadian Fiddle Cham- pionship in Shelburne in 1972; 1973, 1975 and 1977. He is a Canadian and Grand Masters Open Champion and was 1977' champion and.Grand Master Fiddler from Nashville. . Saturday offers a full day's events begin- ning with the parade at 11.30 a.m. Historical and school displays will take patrons on a nostalgic trip down memory lane and at 2 p.m. the sports programs get underway. The program features horse- shoe pitching, tug-of-war, barrel races, kite contests and more. At 4 p.m. the Sky Harbour Modelers will put on a demonstration with their amazing miniature flying machines -and at 5 p.m. the giant beef barbecue will be held. Also from 5-7:30 p.m. a number of bands ,and groups will provide some novel and upbeat entertainment. The Colborne Choir, Foghorns, GDCI Jazz Choir and a bluegrass group will provide the entertain- ment. There will also be.a hog -calling con- test and cash prizes will be awarded for the best period costumes. At 8 p.m. the Jol- ly Miller Theatre will again perform. On Sunday there will be a pancake and sausage breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. at Col- borne School. The breakfast will be follow- ed by the soap -box derby at 10 a.m. and the lawnmower races will follow after that with competition in several categories in- cluding push and riding mowers. It pro- mises to be a unique event. The church service will take place at 2 p.m. on the school grounds and a mamoth balloon release will follow. The Down Memory Lane. Displays will remain open until 5 p.m. There is something for everyone at the Colborne Sesquicentennial and the am- bitious three-day event holds promise of good food, good fun and good times.
