HURONVIEW - On July 6, several men i
• from the Spruce Meadow wing went out for
dinner, then. motored on to Goderich stopp-
ing at Harbour Park, where they enjoyed
the band concert. Performing at this time
was the Walkerton Pipe Band and the Mary
Lynne Telford Scottish Dancers.
The men from Bayview and ladies from
Huron Heights had a tasty treat July 8, when
staff members served them cake and
strawberries. All residents will have their
turn, provided the berries last.
Some of the residents joined with clients
of the Day Care Centre, and boarded a bus'
that. took them on a trip to the Lampton
Museum. There were numerous items on
display of the by -gone days, from cooking
utensils to the horse-drawn hearse. This was
truly an enjoyable outing.
Also this week, there was another
shoeshine day. With brush and polish in
hand. the girls were set up for business: No
need for anyone to walk around in dirty
shoes.
On July 9 many of the folk accompanied
_, by staff members boarded the van for an in-
,,
teresting tour of Storybook Gardens. They
were quite amused with the antics of the
rnonkeys. the colorful birds and saw first
y hand many animals living in their natural
habitat. For the young and the elderly, the
'zoo holds a great number of attractions.
1 It was a super day on July 10, so at noon
the ladies from Park Place were able to be
outdoors for their barbecue. Th hot wre

It was doughnut time again. Several
residents, with the help of staff, got the
dough kneaded, rolled and cut. ready for the
plunge into the grease. After the cooking
process, the doughnuts were ready for icing.
These tasty morsels were served with coffee
to the residents in the afternoon. Thanks to
everyone who makes these treats possible.
Singers, Mary Margaret Bedard, Lori Con-
sitt, Ron Fleming, the Sesquicentennial
Choir and James Armstrong will entertain
the crowd and MPP and Minister of
Agriculture Jack Riddell will be the master
of ceremonies. He will also auction off the
first issue of the Stanley Township collec-

A unique attraction to the show will be its
location. The event will not be held in the

CLINTON - Since he was. three -years -old,
Wat Webster has not missed a Royal Orange
Lodge celebration, and this year marked his
80th year of participation.
"When I was three years and three weeks
old ,t attended the celebration in Wingham at
the old show grounds with my parents," he
said. "My mother bought Me a six inch
drum and two little drum sticks and tied it
around my neck before we left home."
Since that time, Mr. Webster has com-
peted in the fife and _drum competition, tak-
ing first place 11 .times. However, the com-
petition had. been taken out of the celebra-
tions for the past 12 , years, btit it was re-
instated this year.
Although Mr. Webster was glad to see the
fife and drum competition back in the
celebrations, he decided not to take part.
"They were having problems getting
judges, everyone wanted to cortipets, so; I
consented to be a judge," Mr. Webster ex-
plained, adding he was one of two judges.
As for future celebrations, Mr. Webster
hopes to take part in them as -well.

Residents held their very own sing -song in
the dining room on July 11. Lorne Johnston
played his violin and Theodore Gray played
the piano as several took part in singing
their favorite hymns. Afterwards they sat at
the dining room tables to enjoy a cup of tea
and cookies.
On July 12, several met in the activity
room for social tea. This is a popular event
at Queensway because it gives residents a
chance to relax and enjoy the company of

tea.
Also on July 12, Rest Home residents had
a special performance during their lunch
hour: John Wurm, who is the grandson of
Irene Heaman, a resident at the Fiorito, and
Mike Eedy entertained in the dining room.
John played the fiddle and Mike played the
piano. They had several toes tapping. Lorne
Johnston, another resident of Queensway,
even got up and danced to the music.
