Recreation Program •
The playground recreation program is
ready to get off the ground next week.
Anyone still wishing to register children five
to 12 years -old may do so by visiting the
village office. Two leaders and four
volunteer helpers have been chosen and
they have a busy six weeks planned. Swim-
ming lessons are also available.
New Residents
Hensall has more new residents. Welcome
the Powell family, who ,moved into the
rmer McGlinchey home, and to 'Marion
Goldsworthy and her children John and
Liana, who recently moved to Queen Street.
Grad Ceremony
Twenty-three nursery school, children and
their families celebrated year-end June 24
at the public school gym. Twelve students
graduated in a cap and gown ceremony and
will enter the wide world of kindergarten
next year. Mrs. Liz, Janis Bisback, Nancy
Lee and Joan Corbett put on a humorous skit
about summer safety which was enjoyed by
the audience..
A lunch of finger -foods was served by the
mothers and Nancy Lee decorated the.eake.
Storybook Gardens •
Students 'and parents from Hensall •
Nursery School travelled on June 19 to Lon-
don's Storybook Gardens for a wet but en-
, joyable outing. The group had a picnic
under cover and toured the park prior to
their return bus trip.
The showers did nothing to dampest the
enthusiasm of the pre-schoolers but the
moms were slightly bedraggled.
Lunch Treat.
Volunteer parents were treated to a lunch
last Monday at Hensall Public School. The
staff _prepared a meal and each volunteer
was presented with a thank you card by the

SUMMEIHILL - The June meeting of the.
Summerhill Ladies' Club was held at the
home of Phyllis Tyndall with 14 members
present. President Lorna Ellis opened the
meeting by reading a poem.
The roll call was answered by giving pro-
gram suggestions for future meetings.
Thank you cards were received from
Marie Middleton and Bertha Johnston.
A donation is being sent to the Red Cross.
The annual community picnic will be held
at the Conservation Park on July 14 at 7 p.m.
All community members are invited to
attend.
Sandra Westerhout presented the incom-
ing slate of officers: past -president, Lorna
Ellis; president, Phyllis Tyndall; first vice-
president, Ruth Jenkins; second vice-
president, Joy Vodden; secretary,
Margaret Wright; treasurer, Amy' Gerrits;
purchasing committee, Alice Buchanan and
Amy Gerrits.
The raffle was won by Sandra Westerhout.
Vera Gibbings read a poem and her
guessing contest was won by Phyllis Tyn=
dell. Phyllis and Evelyn Merrill tied for first
on an original contest on Summerhill and
area names, conducted -by Donna Gibbings.
The 8:30 p.m., July 9 meeting will be at
the home of Jane VanSpengen with Ruth
Jenkins, Helen Lyons and Evelyn Merrill on
program and lunch.

TUCKERSMITH TWP. - Alex and Eileen
Townsend, RR 4, Seaforth, have been
pleasantly surprised at numerous events
marking their 25th wedding anniversary.
The Tuckersmith Township couple were
married 'July 15, 1961 at Kippen United
Church. Mrs. Townsend was the former
Eileen MacLean from Stanley Township.
The Townsends have three children -
David and his new bride, Connie of Win-
nipeg, Manitoba, Julie of Kitchener and
Scott at home.
Twenty-four Townsend family members
gathered ,at the Family Paradise Cam-
pground on June 22, to honor Alex and
Eileen with a meal, anniversary cake and
gifts.
Their daughter, Julie received gifts and
cArds, too, at this time. She graduated. from
Lampton College, Sarnia, on June 14 and is
presently employed by a Kitchener lawyer.
Neighbors and friends gathered at Alex
and Eileen's home on the evening of June 26
for a surprise party to mark the occasion.

Gerald and Sandra Johnson, Stanley
Township; was held on June 29. Relatives,
friends and neighbors joined in on the
celebration. Alex and Eileen were surprised
with a comical, but lovely, address, read. by
Sandra Johnson and composed by Joyce
Wilson, followed by several gifts, cards and
a'beautiful cake.

held in which intramural awards for ex-
cellence in grade subjects were given out.

are holidaying with their grandmother, Ma-
jorie Whitman, at her cottage on Lake Erie.
Shuffleboard
A good time was spent' shuffling at the
arena on June 26. The ladies' high scores
were: Pearl McKnight 358; Marg Consitti
331 and Elsie Carlisle; 290. High Scores for
men: Walter Knowles, 447; Ernie Chip -
chase, 375 and John Pepper, 365.
Sports News
Jim Dickins was back aboard his Honda
on June 29 at his home track of Hully-Gully.
It was a perfect day and the track was in top
shape.
In the first Moto, Jim got the whole shot
and was leading for half the race when
another rider fell. After some confusion the
race was re -run.
Jim. started the new race in eighth and
worked his way intothe lead for the win, but
was later penalized five positions for pass-
ing on a caution flag. In the third Moto, Jim
started back in the pack and again worked
his way into first for the win, When all points
were tallied, Jim was awarded third place.
Jim will race at Hully-Gully again July 6.
