"Bev has had it in her mind for years," Mrs. Forbes said. Mrs. Elliot added, "We both had a dream that we would like to own a store." As both women had been considering a store for years, and they knew the building was going up for rent, they thought this - would be a good opportunity to live out their dream. On the question of why the theme off a Christmas store was chosen, Mrs. Elliot Said, "I have always wanted to have a Christmas store, and there is a need for it in this area." "We only hope that everyone likes it as ileuch as us," added Mrs. Forbes. Before opening the store, many renova- tions needed to be done to the building as previously it was the location of Blyth Bulk Foods. To make the building into a store, partitions were removed, carpets laid and crafts and Christmas decorations were hung on the walls. Some of the crafts and decorations which " are on sale on the walls include.stitch and stuff pillows and matching wall hangings, scented kitchen accesories such as pot holders, oven mits and tea cosies, and all sorts of Christmas decorations ranging from Victorian to children's decorations. "There will be a lot more Christmas goods," Mrs. Elliot said. "They are just starting to ship them over from Japan." Currently much of their Christmas wares are from Vancouver and Toronto. The store will be a seasonal one, closing on January 1, and reopening on May 24. With this time the ladies hope to have time to make their own crafts for the store. This year did not afford them enough time because they only found out about the open- ing in April. Aside from making craftg in the off season, they will be travelling about, look- ing for interesting goods to sell in the store. "Some stuff you just can't find here," Mrs. Forbes said. Mrs. Elliot added, "We "pope to go to the United States, because they re way ahead of us. Therefore we'll need months to stock." Some of the more interesting goods to be found in the store include specialized jams with liquer in them, Hyman the Pieman cookies, popcorn in champagne bottles, calico animal door stops, and carvings made from old telephone poles, which are carved in Quebec.' Aside from these wares, there is also a large selection of children's gifts such as stuffed bears that Mrs. Forbes makes, and a stuffed bear that plays 14 different songs when you squeeze its.paw. • The store even has something for the avid card players, as custom made card tablecovers are sold, as wellas scoreboards and tallies. hit Pit vie.maTY good gilt hiea ,aodcmgoy More to come," Mrs. Forbes said.
