Edward and Norma Grigg (sitting centre) celebrated their 50th an-
niversary on June 15 with a reception at Clinton's. Wesley Willis

Clinton couple celebrate their 50th
wedding anniversary with Open House

the caretaker of Wesley -Willis Church.
Norma still keeps active in church work,
as well as Lodge, while Edward is occupied
in his gardens.
The Griggs celebrated their 50th anniver-
sary with an Open House at Wesley -Willis
Church on Sunday afternoon. Afterwards
the family met at Bartliff's Restaurant for
dinner.
CLINTON - Edward Grigg and Norma
Potter were married at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Potter on June 17, 1936 by Rev. J.
W. Herbert.
They resided on lot 37, Concession 9 of
Goderich Township, and operated a dairy
farm. They, raised three children, Mrs. Ila
(Thomas) Cunningham, Mrs. Dawn (Peter)
Staniforth and Robert of Kitchener.
Edward was active on tire school board for
several years then decided to try municipal
politics. He was a councillor from 1949-1952
and reeve from 1953-54 of Goderich
Township. Norma was busy with the social
activities of the United Church Women of
Holmesville.
In the fall of 1969 the Griggs decided to
move to their home on Albert Street,
Clinton.
Edward could not retire.,, so, took up work -

the children's time Mr. McDonald told the
story of Roger Rope and Rita Rope and how
God has joined them together in marriage
called "A knotty -marriage."
The ushers for the day were Lloyd
Ferguson, Donald Stebbins and Jim Parsons.
The congregation were reminded the bridal
fashion show of wedding clothes over the cen-
tury would be held in the Hensall Public
School auditorium, and on June 22, the ser-
vice would be at 10:30 a.m. in the Hensall
Arena.
Following the service, a reception was held
in the Fellowship Hall catered to- by the
United Church Worhen.
The Vacation Church School staff met on
June 10 to make final plans for the Vacation
Church School to be held in Hensall United
Church for June 30 to July 4. Co-ordinator and
chairperson of Christian Development
Evelyn Elder led the meeting. The Vacation
School will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. each
morning and children are asked to pre -
register in order that materials may be
ordered. Registrations can be made through
the United Church office or Box 114 Hensall.
Bill Stebbins of the Hensall Scout Troop
received his fourth level of the Religion and
Life Badge at thgrcamp out weekend for the
Hensall Cubs, 'geoids arieraturers held4n
the Parkhill Conservation Area this past
weekend. This is the highest award one can
receive in Religion and Life and Bill is one
of the only persons receiving it in the Huron
District. The award was presented by Rev.
McDonald assisted by Scout Master Tom
Bailey. A large number of Hensall parents
and families attended the camp -out on Sun-
day afternoon and witnessed the award
presentation including Bill's parents and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stebbins and
Dianne. •
Rev. and Mrs. Wilbur Rogers of Elora
spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Edison
Forrest and attended the re -affirmation of
marriage vows service at Hensall United
Church on Sunday. Mrr Rogers was minister
of the church during the 50s and was able to
visit with many of the .couples that he had
married during his ministry here.
