BLYTH - For anyone who is planning on
going fishing and being in the water, I have
some helpful advice I wish to share and pass
on to you. I only wish I knew of it earlier!
On April 28, I took my sons Chris, eight
and Scott, six and my nephew Greg, 10,
fishing in a small stream on the Base Line
Road. The fish were biting and nibbling
good - apparently it was going to rain.
After landing numerous fish, chubs that
is, Chris got his line tied up in a small shrub
on the other side of the stream. I then ad-
vanced through the stream to rescue it and
decided to call it a night.
But, when we got back to the house, Greg
mentioned how his feet had been covered by
blood suckers while being in the water. I
• then removed my shoes and' socks and
behold - I had some on me also. Greg offered
to pull them off and I let him do so.
' The following morning, I woke up and felt
droggy and quite dragged out. I took for
granted that it was the weekend catching up
with me. Although',' I noW realize that I was
aware of my` inItlettrihg svirolien. '
' On April 30, it all came to a head. One of
my small toes had: broken out in a big clear
blister. My ankle was hardly noticable at
• this time - you could hardly distinguish it
from the rest of my leg!

Figurines
One of my girl friends convinced me not to
let it go any further and something had to be
done immediately. My neighbor then took
me into the emergency ward at Clinton
Public Hospital. It was here that I learned
that the root of my problem was the im-
proper removal of the blood suckers. By
pulling them off, they literally spit poison in
my blood, as opposed to sucking the blood
out. It then advanced throughout my
system.
I was then informed that the proper way
to remove them was to either sprinkle a bit
of salt on them, or hold a flame up to them. I
had neither on hand at the time, and had in
my mind that the sooner they were pulled
off my skin, the better. Apparently, once
salt or fire are applied, they automatically
pull back and let go of you.
After the money I put out to purchase the
anti -biotics to clean the poison out of my
system and to clean up the bits, along with
the time lost in resting and laying around
from being dragged out, I came to a startl-
ing conclusion. The next time I go fishing,
ppovide,d willigo,,the.lineiwillebe,snipped off
- the heck with going in.fotrAtUeould have,
not only purchased another line, but a nice
bit down on a whole new rod.
Oh well, they say there is a sucker born
every minute. I now know they must be even
more blood suckers!
