He pitched the no-hitter for the Clinton Mite team while playing against Lucan last August at the zone championships in Sarnia winn- ing 16-1 and striking out 12 batters. He was one of only four Mite ball players in Ontario to pitch a no-hitter. (Alan Rivett photo) Area bowling results Clinton and Area Ladies On April 22, the ladies held their banquet at the Blue Fountain Restaurant. A delicious meal was served by the staff. Each of the ladies was presented with a bowling napkin holder. After the meal, the ladies gathered at the bowling alley where the ladies were presented with trophies and prizes. The playoff trophies went to the Pina Col- ada's who also were the first series winners. Team members are: Betty Kelly, Lois Mor- rison, Libby Van Demme and Ann Riley. The second series winners were the Dac- quari's consisting of Dorothy Carter, Robena Tyndall, Fay Wilson and Irene Thelan. The high average for the year went to Penny Overboe with a 208. The high triple award was won by Kathy Black with a 744 and the high single trophy went to Louise Gibbings with a 333. The most improved new bowler was Irene Cantelon with a plus 22. The most improved bowler was Kim Reid who upped her average by 17 points while the least improved bowler 'was Dorothy Carter who dropped by 20 points. The low game for the year was recorded by Cheryl Wheeler with an 83 game. The door prize was won by Heather Hart. Patti MaGuire had the high average of 169. Bobby Ladd was the high bowler in all categories with a 243 single, 685 triple and an average of 189. In junior girls' bowling, Dawn Powell registered the high single and triple with scores of 182 and 526. Lynn Feeney had the high average of 160. Mike Van Demme had the high scores across the board in the junior boys' division: with the high single of 255, the high tritile"of 593 and the high average of 181. Colquhoun finishes first a The CHSS Track and Field team took part in the 34th Annual Medway Relays last week. Competing against 30 of the strongest schools in the WOSSA region, our athletes recorded some very good results. In the medly relay portion of the event, the Midget half -mile teams did quite well. The Midget Girls team composed of Shelley Bonte-Gelok, Karen Uyl, Julie Trick and Heather Brownridge placed seventh with a good time of 2:08.8 minutes. The Midget Boys team composed of Devon Colquhoun, Derek Jefferson, Steve Vandendool and Dan Motorcross season opens VARNA - Motocrossers from both the Pro- :vincial and National ranks will be pulling in- to Holly Gully this Sunday for the 1986 Motocross season opener. The riders will be competing for Honda Contingency as well as 'for the Ontario Hi -Points series, which will also be kicked off on Sunday. a Special sections are being added to the `; Hully Gully track to make it more similar to a European style motocross track with more grassy terrain. Some local riders will be out on the track doing_their best, such as Brian Blackburn of Exeter who will be riding in the Senior 250 class. John Kochan of Hensall will be riding the Junior 125B class, along with fellow Hen- sall racer Jim Dickins who will be riding in the 80A class. Dave Andrews of Clinton will be out as well as Chuck Collins of Varna. Practice gets under way at 9:30 with the races starting at 12 noon. In the field events, Devon Calguhoun led the way winning the gold medallion in the Midget Boys Long Jumpwith a distance 5.25 metres. Derek Jeferson was ter th it the same event with a jump of SIJ metres. Julie Trick finished seventh it die Midget Girls event with a jump of 4.19 metres. In the high jump event, Dan McDougall finished third with a jump of 1.72 metres and Julie Howson finished eighth in the Open Girls event with a jump of 1.47 metres. In the discus event, Davidjanes finished fifth.'with a fine throw of 36.16 metres.. In the shot put, Leona Nyman Satisfied sixth with a throw of 8.25 metres and in the Open Girls event. Joe Smith finished seventh in the Open Boys event with a throw of 12.36 metres. Overall, a number of good efforts were turned in by the entire team.
