Debate sparks two -way commumcation
HURONVIEW - On April 21 the day got
off to a bright and cheerful beginning as
everyone gathered in the auditorium to
witness a debate with residents versus
department heads. The residents, once the
idea was formed, had about three weeks to
get their complaints and suggestions
together, before presenting them to the
panel of department heads.
Those serving on this panel were Wayne
Lester, Tim Collyer, Mary Gibbings,
Madelon Yeats, Betty MacDonald and Betty
Rogers. Acting moderator was Frank
Bissett who asked the residents for their
concerns, and were directed to the staff
panel.
The debate lasted about an hour, and dur-
ing that time, many opinions were discussed
with favorable comments and practical
solutions.
It was a wonderful opportunity for
residents to meet the people in charge at
Huronview. It was also a time for residents
to air their opinions, with amicable results.
All thought the debate was an accomplish-
ment, and felt it would be a good idea to•
have more of these meetings from time to
time.
Another successful Tupperware party
was held in the auditorium on April 22 from
noon until 3 p.m. Hostess, Brenda Glenn,
had interesting displays of many new items,
all of which takes the worry out of shopping
for gifts.
The van was available for rides on April
23, and at noon, a special dinner was
prepared for the residents who live in the
East Dale Wing. The meal was temptingly
set up and it is anyone's guess that the folk
did it justice.
The ardent bowlers went in to Clinton on
April 24 for their weekly period of testing
their skills at the Crown Bowling Lanes.
In the afternoon residents were entertain-
ed by Elsie Henderson, who played many of
the old favorites as well as some of the
newer musical numbers.
Roman Catholic Mass was held in the
chapel on April 25 with. Rev. John Flute
conducting.
The residents had a fun -filled afternoon on
April 25 as they set out on a scavenger hunt.
They took off in pairs and searched the
building high and low to retrieve the articles
that had been hidden away.
The idea was to find all the missing items
and the pair that returned to the auditorium
first, were the winners and received the
prize.
It was a mad scramble at times, but it all
worked out with a happy ending.
On: April 27, worship was held in the
chapel with a good attendance. Rev. David
Snihur presided in the pulpit.
Over the past few Sundays, Rev. Snihur
has been giving residents inspiring
messages with the theme being Love. Dur-
ing the service, Elsie Henderson and
Margaret McQueen sang a duet.
Huronview extends a welcome to Edna
and Gordon Murray who have come here"
from Exeter.
Residents enjoy village stroll
HENSALL - Queensway Nursing Home
residents have been able to enpy the color-
ful flowers throughout the village during
their walks. '
On April 21, the Presbyterian ladies ran
Bingo. Everyone hada good time and there
were lots of lucky winners.
The Ceramics Club is still going strong.
The work is turning out to be very colorful
and exciting.
Rev. Bob Donnon performed the church
service on April 22. Mrs. Donnon was pianist
and their daughter, Melinda also joined
residents.
bowlers were off to the Zurich Bo
nes again this month to put their skiff
to the test. Lloyd McDougall captured the
high sore for this month with 140 points.
