Show. And the first edition, which was capably organized and sponsored by the Goderich Figure Skating Club, offers a most im- pressive and ambitious program of events and features. In short, despite the fact it's a first at- tempt, the show promises to be a most infor- mative and entertaining one. To be sure, there is something for everyone at the Home and Garden Show. The show runs for three days from 6 p.m. Friday, April 25 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 27 and features nearly 60 displays from business interests in the Goderich area. Featuring a tea garden, free entertain- ment, demonstrations, door prizes, fashion shows and more, the show will be open for four hours Friday evening to 10 p.m., from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. • Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students and seniors. Children must be ac- companied by an adult and will be admitted free. The show will be the principle fund-raiser for the Goderich Figure Skating Club. The opportunity for the show was prposed by recreation 'director Jane Netzke and club president Libby Schultz said the group took up the challenge. "We decided to, take on the project in January after:Jane talked'to us and we ap- proached the Walkerton skating club because they 'put on a show there," she ex- plained. "They were able to give us a lot of help. Then we sent out invitations and all the spots filled up quickly so we were encouraged." On the garden side of things, the show will feature everything from lawn ornaments ....:,.. .:�,, Visit Us at the Goderich Home &Garden Show and garden tools to tractors and lawn care specialists while ehibitors on the home side of the spectrum will feature furniture, swimming pools, windows, decorating ideas and wares through to home computers. In essence, the show offers something of interest to just about everyone. At least 56 businesses will be represented at the show and Schultz said more would welcome the opportunity to participate if space could be made available. "People really waeleomed the idea," she said. "We have hearing from a lot of people and they all say it's a great idea." The skating club took on the show with some assistance from the Signal -Star. Under a show committee of Schultz, Heather Wheeler and Gloria Atfield, the club's executive has been more than active getting this first effort off the ground. "Everyone on the board is helping and '. MVia:: oE.,,.2 ii:. .. �., c .F•,::�' , even the mothers will be operating our tea garden and cooking the food," she,explain- ed. "Much of the food was donated as was a lot of the work." It has taken a great deal of dedication, dtermination and effort to put the show together and Schultz was quick to credit the work of committees and other volunteers like Bob Cornish, in making the show a reality. Also, all the entertainment for the show has been donated by the performers. The club's first endeavor has obviously been a learning experience and if suc- cessgul, Schultz said it will definitely be an ,annual event of the club's. "If it goes well, we'll definitely keep it go- ing and so far the response has been ex- cellent. People have asked us to put them on the list for next year."
