As many as 800 people are expected to at- tend the four-day event titled Volunteerism: A Continuing Force for Social Change that will focus on looking for opportunities and methods to enhance programs already undtrway in communities across the province. The April 29 to May 2nd conference - one of the largest of its kind in the province - is being co-sponsored by the Ontario Associa-• tion of Volunteer Bureaux/Centres (OAVBC) and the Ministry of Community and Social Services. Among the more than 80 sessions and workshops will be those concentrating on common issue's 'andcnhcerns'ranging from Rural Volunteer Programs to Unions and Volunteerism. A number of other sessions such as Government Support for the Voluntary Sec- tor and Psychiatrically Disabled as Volunteers lend themselves to provocative and stimulating discussions. "The idea of volunteering has always been a subject of great importance to me and I'm delighted to see that this special area of personal contribution and achieve- ment is not only being further examined but that experience is being shared," said John Sweeney, Minister of Community and Social Services who, along with Lily Munro, Minister of Citizenship and Culture, will be among the keynote speakers.
