CLINTON- With spring on its way, people
are beginning to become a little more active
than they have been throughout the winter
months, and this is exactly what the Clinton

The year began with members canvassing
for the Heart and Stroke Foundation on
February 22, where they collectgd donations
amounting to $440 in a section west of
Highway 4, in Hullett Township.
March was membership month
throughout the province, and the Clinton
4110 club had a total of 37 members at their last
monthly meeting held in Clinton. Of the 37
members eight were new members

ing any month throughout the year. Those

executive work -shop in London of February
28 to March 2, and two delegates
represented the club at March' Conference,
also in London, on March 14 to 16.
Both the workshop and the conference
proved to be informative and enjoyable,
with jam-packed sessions on needs, goals,
parliamentary procedure, and
communications.
A donation of $500 was presented to the
Clinton Public Hospital as the club's com-
munity betterment project for the month of
March.

meeting suggested, and are planning to
donate their services to the Ministry of
Natural Resources or the Maitland Valley
Conservation Authority. David Cartwright
is to make inquiries and report back to the
club at their next meeting on April 14 at the
Vanastra and District Recreation Centre.

and new members, and any interested per-
sons are welcome.

calendar is a community card party on
April 7, at 8 p.m. in the Clinton Legion Hall.

Computers .come to Clinton
CLINTON - The Huron -Perth RCSSB has
purchased a number of the new ICON com-
puters. The ICON was designed under the
guidance of the Ministry of Education to be
used in the school setting.
These computers are in four labs of 13 or
more. Throughout the year these labs are
moved from school to school for eight or
nine week periods. The children from each
class are then able to spend 30-40 minutes
each day dri the computers while the lab is in
the school.
The teachers attended four three-hour
training workshops illthe evening in order
to become familiar with the use and
teaching capabilities of the computers.
Learning the use of the word processor, the
program Logo, the drawing capabilities as
well as the educational values of some new
software created by the ministry, teachers
throughout the system were able to in-
troduce all of their pupils to the world of the
ICON.
The Huron -Perth RCSSB will continue to
work toward making the new technology a
part of the education system. As additional
computers become available, in-service
training for, teachers, as well as increased
pupil access will result in improved facility
in this new area of education.
