LONDESBORO - There was pod .anew
dance at the United Church Goad Friday
service on March 28. The ushers for the oc-
casion were Audrey and Bob Thompson and
Helen and Jack Lee.
Rev. Snihur welcomed the congregation to
the special service. The scripture lesson
was read` by Sheila Schreiber and Brian
Howatt. Communion was served by Rev.
Snihur and Gordon Shobbrook with each
member of the congregation coming to the
front to receive the bread and wine.
The anthem was sung by the congregation
with Marsha Szusz directing the choir and
Lisa Duizer providing the organ accompani-
ment. The scripture reading was of the trial
and the crus . crucifiction. The sermon was
called Words from the Cross which offered
the congregation much food for thought. The
closing hymn was The Old :tugged Cross.
Easter Sunday Service
The Easter Sunday service at the church
was held on March 30 with a large number of
family visitors present. Welcoming the con-
gregation wed a Rev. Snihur and Harry Snell
while Shannon Duizer, Theresa Knox,
Crystal Whyte and Shelly Merner served as
ushers. The church candles were lit by
Shannon Duizer.
Rev. Snihur announced the Easter lilies in
the church were presented by the
Londesboro and Burns UCWs. On April 6 a
en!eral•meeting of the congregation will be
held after church to discuss the chuxch
family Photo directory. The Messengers
group will meet on April & and the Song Fest
wine held on April 13 at 7:30 p.m.
For children's time, the Sunday school:
children sang This Little Light of Mine.
Cathy Kennedy brought a rabbit to show the
children. They were told the rabbit is the
sign ()Master and represents new life. Each
child was presented with a picture to color
and crayons. -
The anthem for the service was perform-
ed by the choir with Marsha Szusz directing
and Lisa Duizer providing the accompani-
ment. The sermon was called The Greatest
Triumph of All.
People Report
Elsie Shaddick was admitted to Clinton
Public Hospital on March 28. She is wished a
speedy recovery.
Good Friday guests with Tom and Mar-
jorie Duizer and family were Charlotte Bell
of Blyth; Art and Joan Hunking, Todd, Tara
and Alicia of Exeter; Murray and Kathy
Hunking, Bradley and Becky of Goderich
and Lorne and Addie Hunking of
Londesboro. They were also celebrating
Mrs. Bell's 94th birthday.

Polite Pixies discuss image

LONDESBORO - The fourth and fifth
meetings of the Polite Pixies were held on
March 26.
The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge.
The topic of discussion was how to be a good
4-H delegate while travelling. The members
also learned whatto wear and how to pro-
perly pack a suit case.
For the fifth meeting the members receiv-
ed a lesson on image and what other people
see. Good manners and a neat appearnance
are both very important.
The sixth meeting will be held at the
Mayberry residence on March 31. The
members will also be going on a field trip to
Huronview.
St. Michaels CWL donates
$50 to Heart Foundation
BLYTH - The regular monthly meeting of
the St. Michaels CWL was held on March 3.
at the home of Anna DeJong with 13
members answering roll call.
A $50 donation was sent to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation.
The CWL convention will be held at the
Wheels Inn in Chatham on Mary 6 and 7.
Coffee Sunday is April 6 with Joan Mid-
degaal and Jo Cronin bringing cookies and
Nellie VanBakel and Wilma Rammelso
pouring coffee. The next meeting wil be held
at the home of Joan Middegaal on April, 14 at
8 p.m.

demonstrated her craft of silk flower ar-
ranging. She made a cup and-. saucer
centerpiece.

Shuffleboard
The end of the season shuffleboard games
were held on March 26 with 13 players com-
peting. Three game winners were Sherri
Hoggart, Helen Lee and Hazel Reid. High
scores for the 1985-86 games were: Vietta
Hoggart - 39 games; Audrey Thompson - 23;
Helen Lee - 30; Jack Lee - 29; Bob Thompson
- 28; Lorne Hunking - 24; Les Reid - 22 and
Hazel Reid - 20. All other players were below
20 games.

BLYTH - The Beginners played their se-
cond and final game of the season on March
29. They played in Brussels and defeated
them 3-2.
Corey Shannan played another outstan-
ding game. He scored the first two goals for
Blyth, each on breakaways. Brussels then
scored two to tie the game. Danny Chamney
scored the third and winning goal for Blyth,
giving them their second win against
Brussels. The boys appreciated the instruc-
tion of coaches Barney Stewart and Brad
Bromley for all their time and effort spent
with them. See everyone again next season.
Tykes win B Championship
The Blyth Tykes ended their season on
March 29 in Lucknow, returning .home with
another B championship.
In the first game, Ripley skated all over
r13Yytli; defeating them'by a seOre oMt-1.•
• Scoring• for . Blyth> were Brad Anderson,
with two and Wes Wilson. They then went on
to win the consolation prize. During the
'next game, Blyth literally trounced
Teeswater by a score of 10-0, with Chris
Stewart accomplishing another shut -out for
the season. Fredrick Datema opened the
books, seconds after the game began, with a
breakaway. He later went on to score again
shortly afterwards.
Brad Andersen then skated up from the
Blyth blue line, scoring their third goal. The
next four goals.were scored by the same two
players—. Daryll Shannan and Ben Craig.
Daryll scored first, Ben the next two and
Daryll again. At this point, the score was 7-0
for Blyth.
They didn'tstop there — everyone played
exceptionally well, even under the poor con-
ditions, with the warm day, puddles of water
were everywhere on the ice. :.
Fredrick and Ben scored the next two
goals, each accomplishing hat tricks. Jeff
Cowan scored the tenth and final goal. The
Tykes ended the season with an excellent
record. Compliments go out to the coaches
Wayne McDougall, Terry Rutledge and
Ralph Datema for their coaching.
Lost Heir•
On March 26 there were eight tables out
for lost heir. The high lady for the evening
was Elsie Cartier, high man was Bert Daer.
Dorothy Daer was the low lady and Edger
Howatt was the low man for the night. Come
out to play lost heir on April 2 at 8 p.m. in the
memorial hall.
Euchre
On March 31, there were 12 tables out for
euchre. The high lady was Marian ;Haggitt
of Auburn and Harvey Silleb was ,the:.. gh
man: Dorothy Townsend of Seafortlifwas the
low lady for the evening, while Verna
Glazier of Clinton, played as a man and was
the low man for the night. Hazel. Reed of
Londesboro won the ladies' most lone hands
and Harvey Dolmerage of Seaforth had the
most lone hands for the men. Elvin Proctor
won the special for the evening. Everyone is
welcome to attend the next game on April
at 8 p.m. in the memorial hall:,
