(James Fitzgerald photo) Clinton couple celebrates 65th. wedding By Anne Narejko CLINTON - Reaching 65 years' of mar- riage is a milestone not many couples achieve, but Matt and Miry Nediger have obtained this, celebrating their anniversary on February 23. The Nediger's, who were marrried in the United Church by Rev. Anderson, marked the occasion with a small dinner on February 16 with Mr. Nediger's three sisters and two sister -in-laws and then held a quiet dinner on their anniversary date with only the immediate family present. The couple have known each other since school, and became sweethearts during their Saturday evening walks. On February 23, 1921, they were married. After the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom took a four day honeymoon in London, using the train as their means of transportation. The Nedigers have one son, Bud, who lives and Toronto and one daughter, Clara, who lives in Seaforth. They also have three • anniversary grandchildren and four great grand- children. To mark their 65th wedding anniversary, friends and relatives sent flowers, cards and stopped by their home in the King Street Apartments to extend their congratulations and best wishes. "We received one and a half dozen red carnations and one and a half dozen red roses and many cards," said Mrs. Nediger. Their apartment is also filled with several other bouquets. The Nediger's also received a plaque from MPP Jack Riddell and letters from Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, opposition leader John Turner, Murray Cardiff, •the lieutenant -governor and a telegram from Buckingham Palace signed by Elizabeth R. During their dinner on February p, the couple was presented with a cake. The secret to a long and successful mar- riage, says Mrs. Nediger is, "Never go to bed mad at each other. No matter what, kiss each other good night." Sunday schooi ,.a, ses By Fayeanne Love BRUCEFIELD-The United Church Sun- day School here sponsored a spaghetti din- ner.
