7 caters to noon luncheon
Mrs. Betty McCall
WALTON r The Women's Institute catered
to a noon luncheon at the Cook's Producers
Meeting on February 24 at the Brussels,
Morris and Grey Community Centre.
The WI is planning a special euchre on
March 11 in the community hall. The mon-
thly Institute meeting will be held March 19
in the hall at 8 p.m. with convenor Mary
Humphries and Ruth Axtmann in charge of
program on family and consumers affairs.
A noon luncheon will be held the same day.
Church News
' Greeting worshippers on March 2 at
Duff's United Church were Mary Hum-
isirhries and Viola Traviss. Organist was Elva
ilbee. Ushers were Jim McDonald, Barry
oegy and Murray Dennis.
Bonnie Lamble was in the pulpit with her
sermon and the children's story time was on
littering.
The general UCW meeting will be held on
March 5 at 1:30 p.m. World Day of Prayer
will be on March 7 at Brussels' St. Ambrose
Church.
Personals
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Kirkby have returned
home from a month's holiday, touring
Australia and New Zealand.
Guests with Ruth Thames on March 2
were John and Kim Thames, Kitchener;
Clint and Judy Emmrick,'Jamie and Katie,
Walton; Ruthie Thamer, London; Pauline
Gulutzen and Charles; Darlene Gulutzen
and Steve Radford, of the BLyth area.
Mrs. George Taylor has returned home
from Brownsville, Texas where she spent
the past three months with other family
members.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Humphries spent the
past week holidaying in Jamaica.
Neil McDonald, Vancouver, 13.C. is spear
ding a few days with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Kell McDonald, also visiting his grand-
parentsMrs. Stevens in Walton and Ernie at
Rammeloo Rest Home.
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Dennis have return-
ed home from a tour to Venezuela.
Sharon and Craig McConnell, Kitchener
spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Emmer-
son 'Mitchell and Neil.
Tim Sills, son of Jim and Ann Sills,
Seaforth spent a few days over the weekend
with his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Roily
Achilles.
Auburn 4-H club elects their officers
The 4-11 etiquette club gathered for their
first meeting at the Auburn Library on Feb.
26 with 16 members and leaders, Glenyce
McClinchey and Annette Losereit in
attendance.
An election of officers took place. The
new officers are, president, Julia Cunn-
ingham; vice president, Marlene Van
Eeden; secretary, Tanya Boonstoppel;
press reporter, Nancy Siertsema and assis-
tant press reporter, Lori Armstrong. The
members learned the proper way to make
introductions.
Thee next meeting will take place at the
Knox United Church Auburn on Mar. 5.
Knox United Church
The minister Gary Shuttleworth con-
ducted the Sunday morning service. Mrs.
Gordon Gross was organist.
The Junior choir sang "Somebody Bigger
Than You and I under the direction of
04 rs. Allan Webster and Mrs. Gordon Gross.
unior congregation was run by Margo Mid-
lekamp, Nicole Middlekamp, Christine
Shuttleworth, Janice Young and, Anita
Gross.
The minister's sermon was entitled "The
' meaning of- Tithing". The offering was
received by Bill Seers and M. Bakker.
St. Mark's Anglican Church
Holy Communion will be celebrated Mar.
9 at 9:45 a.m. at Blyth Trinity. Anglican
Church and 11:30 a.m. at Brussels Anglican
Church. The guest minister will 'be Rev.
Bren DeVries, a former minister of Auburn,
Blyth and Belgrave Anglican Churches in
1952 to 1955.
Knox United Sunday School
All members of the Sunday School com-
mittee met recently in the church basement.
A discussion of the books used was held.
Decisions on next year's curriculum are to
be made by the end of March.
A committee Qf Laura Lawrence, Margo
Middlekamp and Karen Webster is to make
plans for the Annual Pancake Supper to be
held on Wednesday Apr. 2. It was decided to
keep the same admission charges as last
year including adults $5, elementary school
students, $2.50, preschoolers free and a
family rate of $16.
A donation of $50 is to be made to the
Flower Fund of the church.
Plans include a play by the Junior class on
Feb. 23 called "Noah and the Ark", a puppet
play by the Young Teen Class on May 25 and
the graduation Sunday on June 15.
Euchre Results
Euchre party was held on Feb. 26 at the
Auburn Community Hall. Winners were
high man, Jack Lockhart, low man, Tom
Hallam, high lady, Jane Glousher, low lady,
Lillian Letherland, and novelty, Carol Deer.
Euchre parties are held every Wednesday
night at 8 p.m. at the Community Hall.

Chamney on the birth of a daughter Meagan
Elizabeth born on Feb. 13 in Clinton Public
Hospital. A sister for Danny and Justin.

William Anderson of Newmarket was
home for the weekend with his parents Mr.
and Mrs. Oliver Anderson.
The Three M's Club will meet at the Com-
munity Hall on Mar. 8 at 8:15 p.m. Shuf-
fleboard and euchre will be played. Mr. and
Mrs. Orval McPhee and Mr. and Mrs. El
Lapp will be in charge.
John Hildebrand is a patient at University
Hospital London following surgery. He is
wished a speedy recovery.
The Silver Top Potluck dinner will be held
on Thursday Mar. 20. There will be a film
shown.
The World's Day of Prayer will be held at
St. Mark's Anglican Church on Friday, Mar.
7 at 2 p.m.
UCW Thankoffering will be held at Knox
United Church on Wednesday Mar. 19 at 8
p.m. Mrs. R. Crocker of Goderich will be the
guest speaker.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McLarty of Goderich,
were visitors on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Tom Lawlor.
Mrs, Robert Peck and Marjorie
McDougall attended the 1986 Regional Con-
ference of Women Alive held at the Holiday
Inn in London on the weekend.
Congratulations to Regan Millian and
Anita Gross who placed first in their divi-
sion at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch
Public Speaking competition and advanced
to the Zone level in Clinton.
The Horticulture Society meeting will be
held at the Auburn Community Hall on Mon-
day Mar. 10 at 8 p.m.
Elma McFarlane returned to Huronview
after being a patient in Clinton Public
Hospital.
4 -Hers learn how to be hostesses

BELGRAVE-Members learned about be-
ing good party hostesses at the second
meeting of the Belgrave 4-H Club. It was
held on February 25 at the Women's In-
stitute Hall. Fourteen of the 17 members at-
tended this meeting.
Also learned was how to use good man-
ners on the phone and at the table.
Before closing the meeting, members
chose the Mannerly Muppets as the club
name.
Nine Tables
Nine tables were in play at the weekly
euchre which was held in the Womens In-
stitute Hall on February 26. Winners were:
High lady; Mrs. Lawrence Taylor; novelty
lady, Mrs. Les Vincent; low lady, Pearl
Shiell; high man, Robert Grasby; novelty
man, Stanley Black and low man, Olive Bolt
(playing as a man).
There will be euchre on March 5 starting
at 8 p.m.
Trip Discussed
The World Affairs meeting of the
Belgrave Women's Institute was held in the
hall beginning with a potluck dinner enjoyed
by the members and 40 guests.
Following the meal, the convener, Mrs.
Garner Nicholson introduced Ross Procter
who showed slides and talked of his trip to
Norway, Sweden and Russia.
At the business meeting it was decided to
cater to the dinner for the East Wawanosh
Federation of Agriculture on March 25.
An executive meeting will be held on April
7 at the Londesboro hall and Belgrave will
host the District Annual on May 26.

Sara Anderson spent last week visiting
,with Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Schreiber and
family of Milton and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Moy and family of Mississauga.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Mayberry and Darryl
of Londesboro and Frank Procter of RR 5
Brussels visited ori' March"S at the 'Horne Of
Elizabeth Procter.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Anderson visited last
weekend with their daughter and son-in-law
Mr. and Mrs. Rob Roy of Lakefield and also
attended the musical Lil Abner which was
presented by the students of Lakefield
District High School where Rob Roy is the
musical director for this production.
On March 2 • they visited with Sheila
Anderson at the Toronto Auto Show where
she was working for General Motors. They
also ,visited ,with! their •cousinlJean :Wills! of"
Milton.
Mrs. William Speiran of I:iStowel visited
for a few days at the home 'of Mrs. Bert
Johnston.

Hullett Central announces winners
HULLETT - On February 24 Blyth public
speakers came to Hullett to say their
speeches against Hullett Central public
speaKers. '1 he junior winners were: third
place, Ronda Howatt; second place, Leslie
Lawrence and first, Tammi Medd.
The senoir winners were: Shane Taylor,
third; Kim Medd, second and Anita Gross,
first. Anita and Tammi went to the Clinton
Legion on March 1. -
Cameras
The school is still looking for simple
cameras that are not being used anymore.
They will be useful for science, art and
language activities. Please donate your old,
still working cameras.
If you have a camera please contact the
school, or send it to school with someone.
Blyth and Willett school's held their zone public speaking contest at Hallett Central
Public School on February 24. The winners from the junior and intermediate division will
move on to the Legion competition in Clinton on March 1. The top speakers in the in-

CLINTON - A card party was held on
February 20 at the Oddfellow and Rebekah
Hall. The winners were: high lady, Mrs. ,
