BLYTH - Who could possibly have the
nerve to say that March didn't come in like a
lamb this year? With the radiant sun beam-
ing down, it wasn't a bad day at all! Let's
keep our fingers crossed that it continues
and March goes out like a lamb too. We
could all give one big ROAR in exchange for
the dirty weather and let it signify the lion
for once!
Now that. March is here and hopefully
winter is winding down, the winter recrea-
tional sports are doing the opposite. With the
playoffs underway in both hockey and
broomball, the men and women are literally
winding up.
Public Speaking
On February 26, the Grades one and two
gave their recitals which they chose
themselves, and memorized for public
speaking. They presented them to a keen au-
dience in the gymnasium.
The following is a list of the winners in
each division, although each and every stu-
dent deserves credit for having the courage
to stand in front of an audience and speak.
Grade 1, First - Zoey Onn; second -
Beekey Morrison; third - Tara Wilson;
honourable mentions, Mark Wilson and Jen-
nifer Brigham.
Grade 2, First - Chad Haggit; second -
Darryl Shannon; third - Jody Button;

ly Richmond and Pauline Stewart.
The grade three students composed
speeches and presented them.
Ladies' Auxiliary
On March 3, the Blyth Ladies' Auxiliary
Branch 420, met for their potluck supper at
the Blyth Legion Hall, with 24 members pre-
sent. It was an informal evening, .with each
member bringing a dish for supper. 'There
was a great variety of foods to choose kern.
After the meal; roll call was taken. For
anyone who took part in Secret Comrades
this past year, when their name was called,
they were to try and guess who their Secret
Comrade was, Each lady sends their,com-
rade something in remembrance of special
occasions such as birthday, anniversary,
Christmas, etc. and a little something to
finish the year off.
Some ladies had it narrowed right down to
the exact person, while others struck out!
A brief meeting was then held. The quilt is
now completed and will be on display in the.
Goderich Mall on March 7. Tickets are now
available and the draw is to be made at the
upcoming penny sale.
Numerous other business matters were
touched upon, then the meeting adjourned
with everyone having more coffee and
desserts.

On March 1 the Tykes played here at
home against Lucknow. They played a close
game, with Blyth leading with the first two
goals. Goalie, Jason McDougall was put to
the test though, with constant shots taken on
net. Many unbelievable shots were kept out.
Not being used to quite the workout as he
had, Lucknow caught up and tied it.
However, Blyth pulled through and went on.
to defeat Lucknow 3 - 2. Scoring for Blyth
this week were Jason Rutledge with two and
