Teli the world you're getting married, then get moving
No matter how long wedding plans
have been turning over in a bride-to-be's
mind, important details can be overlook-
ed.
London bridal consultants and bride
books recommend wedding plans be set
in motion as soon as the engagement is
an. iounced.
Wedding countdowns begin at least six
months before the big day, but if there's
a year tri spare, start then, especially
when booking a reception site.
No later than six months
before, don't forget to:
• Discuss expenses with all concerned
and set a firm budget. This will deter-
mine the size'and formality of the wed-
ding.
• Set the date and time of.the ceremony
and rehearsal with the clergy.
• Select and book reception hall. If an
at-home wedding, book caterer and
garden furniture or tent if needed.
• Choose and notify bridal party and
discuss finances.
• Draw up guest list and notify fiance's
family to do same.
• Select musicians, florist and
photographer, including soloist or
organist.
• Have fiance notify best man and
ushers. A general rule is one for every 30
persons.
• Send for honeymoon brochures and
discuss plans.
• Shop for wedding gown and ac-
cessories.
• Choose china, silver, crystal, linens
and other household preferences.
• Register with bridal registries.
Three months before,
remember to:
• Engage bridal consultant, if desired.
• Select and order invitations from
jeweller, stationer or department store.
Allow enough time for engraving and ask
for outer and inner envelopes to be sent
immediately for addressing.
• Order personal stationery for thank
you notes.
• Fiance should make honeymoon
reservations.
• Decide on groom's attire for wedding.
• Consult with priest, minister or rabbi
unless a civil ceremony. Some churches
require marriage counselling before wed-
ding.
• Arrange transportation for wedding
