The winners were high man, Ken McDougall; low man, Ray Hanna; high lady, Bernice McClinchey; low lady, Erma Cartwright and novelty, Lillian Leatherland. Euchre parties are held every Wednesday night at 8 p.m. Knox United Church The minister Gary T. Shuttleworth was in charge of the Sunday morning service. Organ Prelude was by Mrs. Gordon Gross and in charge of the Junior Congregation were Mrs. Teadde Bakker, Tammy Shut- tleworth, Karen Bakker and Donna Lynn Armstrong. The minister chose for his sermon "Why Should We Pray." Offering was received by Brian Ramsey and Lawrence Plaetzer. Local News Mr. and Mrs. Dave Roulston returned home from Haiti last week. Patrick Chamney returned to Ottawa on the weekend after visiting his grandparents Bud and Laura May Chamney for the past two weeks while his parents Larry and Deb were on a vacation on St. Lucia Island. Family Night of Knox United Church will be held on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. sharp. Maria Dalton will be showing slides on Haiti. There will be a Pot Luck Dinner. The 3 Ms Club • The 3 Ms met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Bean, Saturday, Feb. 8 for an even- ing of Court Whist. Lucky winners were Mrs. M. Bakker and Ernest Durnin and low, Mrs. Elliott Lapp and Lawrence Plaetzer. The March meeting will be Shuffleboard at the Community Hall with Mr. and Mrs. Orval McPhee and 'Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Lapp in charge. Heather, David and Bethany Camplin of Clarksburg visited with Pastor and Mrs. Carne recently. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. John McNall of Burlington on the arrival of their son Jonathan William Wilson born on Feb. 6 at Joseph Bran Memorial Hospital, Burl- ington. Proud Brant grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Stan McNall of Welland. Mr. and Mrs. David Scott, Daniel and Taf- fline of Goderich visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Gross and family of R1, Auburn. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Greg Park spent the weekend with William Anderson of Newmarket. The Auburn Lion's Club held a euchre tournament at the Community Hall on Saturday, Feb. 8 with a good attendance. The monthly meeting of Women's In- stitute will be held at Community Hall on Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. The topic will be Tweedsmuir History Book by Mrs. Tom Haggitt. Roll call is "Bring an article used in a pioneer kitchen.' Hostesses will be Beth Lansing and Mrs. Oliver Anderson. Walkerburn Club The Walkerburn Club on the blustery day Jan. 28 met at the home of Mrs. E. Lapp. Mrs. Roy Daer led in prayer and the secretary read the minutes. A picture and report on our foster Korean child was enjoyed. Mrs. R. Archambault, treasurer, gave her report and suggested that the foster child be paid.until the end of June. Mrs. J. Verwey won the draw that was donated by Mrs. T. Rutledge. It was decided to try and have a special every other month and to have Mary from Mary's Sewing Cen- tre for a color chart demonstration for February. Mrs. R. Archambault offered her home for the next meeting. Mrs. J. Verwey and Mrs. Roy Daer will be the lunch convenors and Mrs. Tom Cunningham and Mrs. R. Ar- chambault are in charge of the program. Mrs. Roy Daer gave an appropriate New Year's reading followed by two comical ones "Ground Hog Day" and the "Diary of a Policeman" by Mrs. J. Verwey. A great variety of articles were then on sale with Mrs. Verwey as the auctioneer. Prior to lunch served by the hostess and Mrs. T. Rutledge, a minutes silence was held in memory of the astronauts on the Challenger which exploded that morning. Weekly Euchre Seven tables were in play at the weekly euchre held in the Women's Institute Hall, on February 5, Winners were: Olive Bolt, Helen Martin, Eva McGill, George Johnston, Albert Cook and Gordon Walker. There will be euchre again today February 12, starting at 8 p.m. 4-H Project The 4-H project, "Etiquette for the 80's", will be held in the Women's Institute Hall on February 18 at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in this project should call Mrs. Pete Campbell or Mrs. Glenn Montgomery. People Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Black of Dauphin, Manitoba visited last week with their aunt Etta. Cook of Maitland Manor Nursing Home, Goderich. The Women's Institute meeting will be held on February 18 beginning with a pot luck dinner at 12:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. A program to follow. Hullett School going curling at Vanastra HULLETT TWP. - The Grade 7 and 8 students at Hullett Central Public School are going curling at Vanastra for four weeks. The Grade 7 class will go on Thursdays and the Grade 8 class on Fridays. Their first week of curling started on February 6 and 7. Volleyball On February 8, the boys and girls volleyball teams played against the Blyth boys and girls. The boys' team played three games. They lost the first game 15-10, won the second game 15-3, and lost the final game. The girls' team also played three games and lost them all. The first game was close with a score of 15-2, the second game 15-3 and the third game 21-15. The area public school tournament will be held at Central Huron Secondary School, Clinton, on February 15. Safety Week For Safety Week, Constable Marshall of the OPP came to the school to present a pro- gram called Better Safe Than Sorry to all the grades. He showed two films which talk- ed a lot about what young people should do if they find themselves in a dangerous situa- tion involving a stranger.
