Seaforth high school band
will compete in Florida.
SEAFORTH-The District High School
Girls Marching Band has been invited to
take part in the Edison Pageant of Light
Competition which is held from February 8-
15, in Fort Myers, Florida- This is an honor
for the band because only 15 bands are in-
vited from across Canada and the United
States.
The band will take part in a field drill
competition in a football stadium that holds
10,000 people. All tickets are usually sold out
forthe night performance. The band will
also take part in a street parade competition
which means the band will be marked for its
color party, drum section and intonation of
its music.
The band will play New York, New York.
The field drill presentation is based on
Beatle music. The band will form the word
Beatles and play Ob -la -di, Ob -la -da; it will
then move into forming the letters ML and
play Michelle My Bell; from there they will
form a submarine and play Yellow Sub-
marine. For the last part of the formation,
the band will be a wheel that rotates while
the band plays Hey Jude.
The design of the field drill and
chorography has been designed by C.
Kalbfleisih, band director.
There will be 60 band members and 31
adults, made up of parents and friends of the
band going.
The cost of the trip will be $20,000. This
money was raised by the band without any
fund raising and financial help of the
Booster Club.

sioned by the Blyth Festival and premiered
here, are receiving production in other parts
of this continent in 1986.

in March at the Circle Rep Theatre in New
York. Circle Rep Theatre was founded by
Marshall Mason . and Lanford Wilson
(Pulitzer Prize winner for Talley's Folly.)

Blyth Festival in 1981. and won the 1984
Governor General's award for drama.

Warehouse Theatre opens a production of
Garrison's Garage by Ted Johns this week,
under the direction of the Blyth -Festival's
Katherine Kaszas. Robert King is again

titude for accounts, and Ron Gabriel, who
played Bert in the Blyth Festival produc-
tions, is playing Garrison. Garrison's
Garage tours Manitoba for a full two months
before returning to Winnipeg to play to au
diehcesthere.
Country. Hearts by Ted Johns and John
Roby will close the 1985-86 season of Theatre
Calgary, opening . m April. Originally pro-
duced in 1981, Country Hearts returned to
the Blyth Festival in 1984 including a short
tour of southwestern Ontario.
Band members will be billeted with band
members from North Fort Myers High
School Band. The band members will get a
one day side trip to Disney World.
The band will take part in a night parade
on February 5: This parade is the second
biggest after the Orange Parade in Florida
and will be on Florida T.V. It attracts from
50,000-100,000 spectators.
The band will be arriving home at around
2 a.m. on February 16 so that students
wouldn't miss too much school.
Are invitation is also extended to any
female high school musicians who would
like to be in a marching band, to join them in
the third week of February. This would not
interfere with their music program at any of
the four other secondar-y schools in Huron •
County, because the band practises on
Wednesday nights and play on weekends.
This band is on national T.V. and plays all
over Canada and the U.S.
